If we're gonna make it a national issue and consume the day of every taxpayer, then we are beginning to step into the line of mediocrity. It destroys any avenues for success. Let Noy blabber all he want... at the end of his term he will be truly judged barring impeachment. I hope by now we have with us lessons learned. Impeachment makes congress more powerful. It is giving undue pressure to the other branch to earn some more for the payoff. Di na tayo natuto. Tsk!

Maybe YOU missed the fact that the elections are over and you no longer have to do any media spinning for us to accept Noy is the (presumptive) president?

Do some back-reading where you will find my initial take on this, okay? And if you do, I mentioned he wants to score points on being the "non-frivolous president." Whether it is right or wrong, i don't know. personally, it doesn't score well with me. Capice?

By the way... do you have any understanding of the real activities behind governance, especially from the presidency? I hope you stop simplifying things here because frankly, I find the great majority of posters in this forum are quite intelligent people who will not take BS. You want me to spell out my point? Here, hopefully it is very basic enough for you to understand:

    First, you say:

Do you know the logistics needed to be set up to ensure his travel from Malacanang to Times Street is safe and hassle free? Do you know the security impact of a president getting trapped in a traffic even for one or two minutes?

Do you know the logistics needed to secure his Times street residence, both within the house, within the immediate vicinity, and around the exclusion point, which is going to be several kilometers radius from his house?

Do you know the logistics needed to ensure he is in constant and secure communication from his home to Malacanang?

And please, a president doesn't just "shower and go to sleep" like any of us. The rules that guide a president is vastly different from normal people like us.

    And by the way...

At any rate, yung Prime Minister ng isang european nation ran his country through IPAD during the time that flights to europe are stalled due to volcanic eruption, bakit naman magiging complicated kung ganun.
You are referring to the PM of Norway, who presumably "ran" his country on from his iPad.

    Here, read this:

Stoltenberg later claimed in his Twitter blog that “it is an exaggeration to say I govern the country with an iPad, but it is one of several great tools”. Twitter followers pressed the prime minister for more information on his iPad usage, to which Stoltenberg replied that he uses the device for reading documents and keeping up-to-date with the latest news.
    Source: http://www.icenews.is/index.php/2010...way-from-ipad/

No sane world leader will run his country from just an iPad by onnecting to your run-of-the-mill commercial WiFi site. Do you know how easy is it to break into such networks? Honestly? Do you?

And I know what I'm talking about. 24 years of IT and Communications work under my belt, with another 5 years in media/PR, and 3 years in intelligence analysis.

Now, tabularasa, please stop overly simplifying things here. We're not idiots. We know how to think, we know how to see spin, and we don't take kindly to BS.

    To end:

I will reiterate: I accept Noy as the next Philippine president. I want him to succeed. I want him to thrive. I want him to do good. Along this vein, he needs to learn the ways of governance and politics and PR (the president is the country's number one PR person). He should be careful with what he says, even if he has the best intentions because if he is not careful, the media and his enemies will pounce on him. Noy needs a very good adviser to help him filter what he says. It's not just about being honest, but about being able to project the right image and say the right message.

BTW, Noy doesn't need blind zealots to protect him at every turn by spinning every issue. Noy does not need a cordon sanitaire. Noy needs the help of capable assistants/advisers to grow up and mature into a capable statesman. People like tablularasa do him a great disservice because they just alienate would-be supporters.

I like this! Hahaha. How can a simple poster here do a disservice to former Gordon or Gibo intelligentsia. Kung si Gordon nga, nagmamalikluhod na sumama kay Noynoy ngayon because he's out of job, tsk tsk. Well, some people are really complicating things which are simple enough to understand. Logistic? Pre, it only takes a lot of creativity to divert media attention regarding the sleep-over residence of the president. Nood ka ng james bond movie baka sakali makita mo kung paano.

If he really doesn't want to waste tax payer money he should just stay in the Palace. The logistics involved in securing his residence and the vicinity on a daily basis will cost tax payers more money than if he were to stay at the Palace. His home will have to be fitted secure lines of communication so he can conduct business while he is home since being the President isn't just 9-5 but a 365/24/7 job. Also, the inconvenience it would cause to his neighbors in the area of having to go through security checks just to go home because the President happens to be home would get old fast for anyone living in the vicinity.

Did you just compare how to secure the President to a Bond movie?

    How old are you? Really?

Gee... I guess some individual really has a problem with reading comprehension and has no capability to argue logically. Even as we try to discuss issues point-by-point, what we get instead are sweeping motherhood statements that are so off-tangent. And he relies on a James Bond movie to prove a point? I think the blank slate is really that... blank.

Anyway, anyone watching too much James Bond movies to compare it with securing the president is... sad. 'nuff said.

*redorange: Nice summary.Very clear and concise.

OT: I can't help laughing at this wikipedia entry on "blank slate." The way the definition was phrased is just so funnyto me.

I'm sure Noy meant well with his statement about not wanting to live in the Palace and would instead prefer to live in his house or a condo because he want to be frugal. Nothing wrong with that. However, his (I'm quite sure innocent) statement can be easily taken out of context. We all know how the media is in this country: they'll build you up so that they can have a grand spectacle bringing you down.

Noy's coterie of advisers should be attentive enough to help him learn how to filter his thoughts so that the words that come out of his mouth are sanitized and not prone to be sensationalized. He has a lot of work to do, and cannot afford the distractions that come with the media frenzy that surrounds him at the moment.

Wow, probably you should send your resume and apply for the job. I just heard that there is a search committee. In all likelihood, you have the qualifications since you are very keen in knowing my age, at least in that category you are qualified. You might get the job for all we know. Then you should tell President Noynoy the right and correct words, stories, and movements that should be made or always be at his side to advise him. I'm sure after doing that, he'll show you the way out. Hahaha.

Hey blank slate, no matter how much the members try to bring the discussion back to topic, you always manage to bring it out of topic. And no matter how many points are raised, you just brush those aside and make a really inane statement that is totally off the mark. Way to go! I'm personally so proud of you. I guess you really are the most intelligent person in this forum... I mean you actually know I'm so interested in the job... even I didn't know that I was interested. You must be some genius, a guru, or something else.

At any rate, I've reached my personal quota of your constantly being off-tangent. I'm surprised I lasted this long. I guess rational discussion is NOT an option with you. With that, I bid you a virtual adieu. No, you will NOT get a raise out of me, and I have finally decided to stop feeding the troll. Bye!

ang problema kasi dito eh hindi nyo nakikita ang big picture.

that's 2 times the taxpayers money.

of course, the PSG still needs to guard Malacanang eh symbol iyon ng power ng Pilipinas eh

and then of course, the extra security that will be fielded in wherever condo noynoy stays.

as a businessman, iisa lang nakikita ko dito. ghost expenses heheh. biglang nadoble budget.

pero ewan i still give him the benefit of the doubt. pag nakikita ko Malacanang, parang may nakadungaw talaga dun sa ibabaw even at daylight awooo
