I wonder if repealing net neutrality has any residual impact on us and all other countries outside the US.

Services like Netflix and Amazon Video comes to mind. Even though there are already regional servers that caters to the PH market, among others, I still use VPN to access US-only content.

without net neutrality, ISP's can make internet look like cable TV

they'll have a basic package and if you want more channels you have to pay additional

this is what internet looks like in Portugal where they don't have net neutrality

Back in the mid 90s, P60 per hour ang internet. P2k+ unlimited internet (quite expensive in 90s money) BUT what was good about that was there were no jejemons or dutertard like characters

    no net neutrality

for example a telecom company/internet provider owns a video streaming service

the company will favor its video streaming service over others

they can slow down the speed of other video streaming services or block them altogether

I tried reading more about it. We don't have net neutrality here. As a country, we are not directly affected by the repeal in the US. However, a lot of countries look up to the US, one way or another, as a source of influence and the repealing of net neutrality might serve as a precedence for other countries to follow, including our own.

It's going to be a sad day when even your internet access in your own home will be sold a la carte... like how the mobile telcos are selling "access" to certain sites only like Facebook or Youtube and either block or charge access to other sites at a premium.
