2 injured as rebels attack army camp
    By Ben O. Tesiorna

DAVAO CITY -- Two civilians were wounded when suspected rebels strafed a Philippine Army camp in Sarangani early Saturday morning.

Reports reaching Sun.Star Davao showed that the New People's Army (NPA) attacked the camp of the 66th Infantry Battalion in Malapatan town around 1 a.m. Saturday.

The rebels reportedly attacked the back portion of the Army camp with rounds from M203 grenades and other high-powered firearms.

As a result, the wife and son of Staff Sergeant Cornello Calao were wounded.

They were identified as Nancy and 18-year-old son Erick who were just visiting the soldier when the attack happened. The victims sustained wounds on the head and shoulders.

The rebels, numbering to about five, reportedly withdrew right after the soldiers returned fire.

Lieutenant Colonel Manuel Sequitin of the 66th IB said the rebel harassment could just be a diversionary tactic to shift their attention away from the Front 71 of the NPA who is now the subject of an intense military operation in Sarangani Province.

Sequitin, however, vowed that there would be no let-up in operations against the NPA's Front 71. (BOT/Sunnex)

Asa ka naman dyan sa mga human rights group na yan. Bear in mind that the lifes destroyed by these rebels/communist are not covered in their advocacy.

I remember an Army Major said to us during my ROTC days in Mindanao. "Kung wala yang Human Rights Group na yan matagal nang tapos ang problema sa Mindanao."

kasi daw ang military, police or government in general are supposed to uphold and protect our human rights. so kung sila gumawa ng mali, sobrang critical ang mga human rights groups kasi "hindi dapat" ginagawa yun.

on the other hand, it is "normal", natural or expected for rebels to violate human rights. so kung may ginawa silang kalokohan, hindi aangal mga groups kasi nga, yun naman talaga pakay ng mga rebelde at hindi contrary to a rebel's purpose.

but still, i hate their double standards. ang hihilig kumampi sa mga criminals, or as they say "victims" of persecution.

    ABSCBN is anti GMA

just watch their news programs...TV Patrol & Bandila.

Their style of reporting has a very obvious anti-gov't slant.

Their agenda is to cause discontent among the masses... to make the masses angry... to stir up a mass uprising.

Lagi nila binigigyan ng airtime ang mga militante.

Magkano ang airtime para sa commercial? hundreds of thousands for 30 secs. diba?

Ilan minuto ang binibigay ng ABS para magsalita ang mga militante?

    libre yan...

    malinaw agenda ng ABS...
