    Subject: [eLAGDA] My Senatorial List

Some people ask who I will vote for senator. Before I share my list, let me first make clear this is not the official line-up endorsed by the Black and White Movement. We have decided not to have a black list-white list for the senatorial race. Why? Because our primary criteria in including candidates (for congressional seats) in the black or white list is their position on impeachment. If and when the impeachment complaint is finally endorsed to the Senate, the senators will sit as senator-judges. And any explicit statement on impeachment from candidates at this time will taint their objectivity and force them to inhibit themselves from the proceedings.

Here are my choices, with short annotations. The first part comes under the acronym CARPET.
    ____ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ __

    Cayetano and Aquino

One is outspoken, the other soft-spoken. One is a fearless nemesis of the First Gentleman, the other a staunch defender of democracy. Both come from a family of politicians, but both have made a mark on their own in the changing political landscape as we see a new generation of leaders emerge. Together with the other young congressmen who stood firm on the side of truth, they give us hope that there is still a better future for our nation.

These two are the GO bets that GMA and FG would love to see lose. And the palace has pulled out all the stops to ascertain their defeat.

Both are targets of Malacanan's "dirty tricks" special operations, fielding obscure candidates with the same names, to spoil votes cast for them. Even if Comelec later disqualifies these nuisance candidates, it would have cast enough doubt among poll officials that some of them would consider votes for Cayetano and Aquino (without the first names) as stray votes.

A win by Cayetano and Aquino would be a slap in the face of GMA and FG. It is a strong rebuke to their immoral and naked abuse of power. And for this alone, I would encourage you to put these two at the top of your list. Please do not forget to write their complete names: Alan Peter Cayetano and Noynoy Aquino.

    Roco

During the Civil Society Consultation meetings, Sonia Roco emerged as the top nominee whom we later endorsed to the opposition ticket. She, of course, will advance the legacy of her late husband - Senator Raul Roco. But on her own, she is an accomplished educator. If she wins, you can expect a strong voice for women's issues and a rational program for education.

    Pangilinan

There were rumblings when Kiko finally decided to stay independent, derailing the opposition's plan to field a complete 12-man slate. My own take is we should not penalize him for taking a stand for his convictions. At least, he did not go the way of Recto and Joker - his colleagues at the Wednesday club. That was the easy path to take, where machinery and funding support awaits defectors. Kiko opted for the road less traveled - slugging it out on his own without benefit of political machinery from either side.

    Escudero

As Minority Leader, he led the opposition through two gruelling attempts at impeachment. Even though outnumbered, he would nevertheless rally a handful of opposition Solons to make a stand, if not to prevent, then at least to let the people know of the real issues that hound our society today. During the ConAss attempt, their filibustering paid off... it exposed to the public the insanity of the whole exercise and the true nature of the majority of our representatives - lapdogs and mercernaries.

    Trillanes

This requires some explaining. Why endorse, or even vote, for someone who led the Oakwood coup attempt?

Well, to my surprise, he came out as our third nominee during the Civil Society consultation meetings. And I had the opportunity to meet him one-on-one. I grilled him about the Oakwood incident, his links with Erap, with Gringo, and their motives for the whole affair. He explained everything to my satisfaction.

The young officers had valid grievances, and sought an audience with GMA. She heard, but did not listen. She promised to do one thing, but did the exact opposite. Typical. And so they sought other avenues for their grievances. They were idealists, but politically naive, unmindful of the political color of their supporters. All they wanted was the chance to speak up. And they continue to suffer for that single moment of expression.

At least, he was way ahead of us in discovering the true character of GMA - a liar and a transactional president.
    ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________

The second half of my list falls under the code P4K.

    Ping Lacson

Many of my colleagues are uncomfortable with his human rights track record. But he is one legislator who has openly opposed pork barrel, and refuses to avail of it to prove his sincerity. To me, that is a rare breed. And for that alone, he should be sent back to the senate.

    Koko Pimentel

He is a bar topnotcher. We need him in the Senate as counterweight to some incumbents who know absolutely nothing about lawmaking (or for that matter, about anything). Last I heard, the Senate is in the business of crafting laws. Let's put someone who knows it well.

    Kapatiran Candidates

The last 3K refers to the 3 Kapatiran candidates - Bautista, Paredes, and Sison. I know little of their credentials. But I do know of Kapatiran's principled platform. They offer a refreshing concept - that we can actually elect based on party platform, rather than personalities. It's a political innovation worth supporting with our vote.

There's my complete list - CARPET P4K. Notice I only have 11 on my list. I left one for your favorite candidate, if he's not yet in my list.

I encourage you to prepare your own list, which may not necessarily be the same as mine. (Of course, if you agree with my list, then you may want to forward this to your friends and colleagues). Distribute them to people within your sphere of influence and explain why they should vote for your preferred candidates.

In the end, we deserve the government that we get. It starts with getting the right leaders elected, not just with our own vote, but also by campaigning for them. That is the least we can do if we want to participate in shaping the destiny of our nation.

    Vote wisely. Campaign with passion.

    God bless,

    enteng

This coming election I will vote straight to TEAM UNITY – I don’t like all the candidates but by voting straight it shows that my support is to the administration of Pres. Arroyo. The reason our politics is not stable it’s because of our system - we vote on individual candidates.

    Example:
Let’s say on this coming election it’s the Opposition who win the majority in the Congress and in the Senate so, what they’re going to do is just make the administration of Pres. Arroyo difficult – not easy, their going to file an impeachment to remove Pres. Arroyo in power – and who will replace? Back to J. Estrada again – our politics will just go in circle – never ending story of political aggression – NO PEACE – and who will be affected ‘US’ the Filipino people – Politicians don’t mind that we suffer for their actions – all they’re interested is the POWER.

In UK they vote to a political party not to the individual candidates that’s why they don’t have political violence and the party they elected – can work together as a TEAM for the PROGRESS of the Country. And this kind of system is the best in the world if only people will just VOTE WISELY.

Our President (ARROYO) is the best we have at present – take that from a foreigner’s point of view. If all of us Filipino can give our support to our Pres. and allow her to do her job then we might achieve STABILITY in politics, peace and order, and economy – then PROGRESS will follow.

So why don’t we just support the Present Administration - PRES. ARROYO
