MANILA, Philippines – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared September 7 and 21 as non-working holidays, Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said Friday night.

Arroyo declared Monday next week a national day of mourning for Iglesia ni Cristo Executive Minister Eraño “Ka Erdy” Manalo, who will be buried that day, Remonde said.

“All flags will be flown at half-mast,” he said in a text message to reporters.

On September 21, the Muslim Filipinos will be marking Eid'l Fitr, or the end of holy month of fasting, Ramadan, according to Remonde.

    another productive day lost.
not good for business owners and for employees who are paid per day.

parang OA na... imho, holiday economics is good if people have disposable cash to spend, but what i have been observing is that people now stay at home because they have no or limited cash to spend... so instead of having business be productive which can create better economic flows, tumitigil ngayon.

tsk.... langya talaga itong si gloria... hindi na nagiisip.

I can't complain. They should have announced it earlier though.

Last month, we only had 1 complete work week.

Is Monday, Sept. 7, a non-working Holiday due to NIC Leader's burial?
