What i find ironic also is that even squatters are given connection to electricity (as you can see with the maze of meters and wires in their areas). Dapat hindi na pinapaconnect ang mga ganyan.

The problem is there are still too many opponents to nuclear power.

Many of them probably don't even understand what they are against.

The push for BNPP was really set back after the Japan Fukushima earthquake.

i admit i'm biased against nuclear plants. That being said,i think we should lock down the supporting features before putting one up, e.g.

-- competent and responsible people to run it( we have zero experience running a nuclear plant)
-- relatively stable geography and weather conditions(we are on the Ring of Fire, visited by several typhoons yearly)
-- proper handling of nuclear waste(not sure where we can dump it)
-- emergency infrastucture, protocols, etc. to prevent and deal with a meltdown(my guess is if we do have a meltdown, we will be depending on the US, Japan, etc to clean it up)

To add, EDC and First Gen recently had a lot of "power assets" damaged by Yolanda. i'm not really sure how we can typhoon-proof a power plant, nuclear or otherwise.

imho it is quite possible to put up a nuclear plant here in PH; it's the maintenance that worries me
