ic sir..but in terms of actually running one, wala pa ata ?
afaik, power went out at Fukushima, and the backup diesel generators for pumping water to cool the reactors kicked in. But the diesel generators weren't placed high enough(but bec. of the sheer size of the tsunami), so it got flooded when the tsunami hit.about fukushima, hindi naman yung earthquake ang reason bakit nagkaroon ng meltdown. Kundi dahil sa tsunami. Tapos mas bagong model pa yung nasa Bataan. Yung mga operational sa ibang bansa ay older models. Kaya parang malabo yung mga kinakatakutan ng mga experts kuno.
i agree, certain design tweaks can make one plant safer than the other. CNN pointed out a certain US nuclear plant in the US were the water is "gravity driven" -- i.e. me falls/river/etc that flows down to the reactors -- so power or no power, safe siya.
pwede kayang private company ang mag operate nalang nito?
Kung matuloy man, gusto ko rin private company. i have Zero faith on our government to manage something like this.

malabo, maski private or public mag run. It would be a big-big project and pag private ka, you have to deal with meralco, kasama na dyan mga ibang power providers magkasabwat mga yan e. Siyempre may sawsaw din government.
And of course the people behind the scenes of each of those.
Not to mention where you get and how you dispose the fuel of the reactor.
End result is sure disgrasya, meltdown.
Walang pagasa Pilipinas, theres more Stupids pulling you down then Smarts pushing you up
Gokongwei bought 27percent of meralco. Seems like state is losing control to manage and regulate the utilities here. More fun in the philippines.

Nuclear power plant is an old technology. Dont underestimate pinoys with something na nadevelop na and functioning in the 60s or 70s unless we are not open to change.
I want my refund!!!
Supreme Court stops Meralco's power rate hike
ANC – 25 minutes ago
The Supreme Court has temporarily stopped the Manila Electric Company (Meralco)'s P4.15 power rate hike on Monday.
The high court issued a 60-day temporary restraining order (TRO) after two petitions were filed against the rate increase.
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has earlier approved Meralco's proposal to implement the rate hike in three tranches. The ERC later backtracked on its approval of the staggered power rate hike for February and March.
The first tranche of P2.41 per kilowatt hour has already been implemented in December. This was supposed to be followed by a P1.21 per kilowatt hour increase in February and P0.53 per kilowatt hour hike in March. Some groups consider this the "highest electricity rate in [Philippine] history."
Meralco was previously prompted to propose an increase in their generation charge after Luzon's largest power supplier, the Malampaya oil and gas project, was closed for maintenance until December 10. The maintenance shutdown has reportedly forced Metro Manila's lone power distributor to buy more expensive diesel for its plants.
The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Senate Energy Committee are currently investigating a "possible collusion" between power companies .
Energy Sec. Jericho Petilla said they are also preparing measures to prevent another possible power price hike in Summer.
so paano na? magkano dapat bayaran for November and December bills? eh naka add na yun increase sa nabayaran?
i-refund nila sa next bill
ako rin natanggap ko na yun bill ko for dec. kaso hindi ko pa binabayaran
bumaba consumption ko kaso tumaas yun babayaran ko
