Bohol wasn't ready. It was the information from a civilian that alerted authorities of the presence of armed bandits.

Sad to say, abuse and enrichment of those who controlled the reigns of power. Kahit hindi martial law that's already a problem... It's good to see that our Constitution presently tries to address the perpetuation and absolute power that Marcos abused, but of course there are challenges.

that's what it is... people telling authorities of the presence of the bandits. they did not cuddle them nor just turned a blind eye as if they don't care. that made the bandit's foray to bohol an excursion to till kingdom come. I've heard they
had a good system instituted down there that cuts across the LGU down to the barangay and being used for disaster, terrorism, tourism security and drugs among others. I'm not really privy to its details, but the result would indicate they're doing great. while they've done great, the abu sayyaf adventure to Bohol badly hit their tourism income this summer. Bad luck, but we'll be comforted that they're working together to move themselves forward. there are places here in mindanao that are also trying to do good, but its really impossible to isolate themselves from the whole island.

^ ok lang pala ang suspension ng writ of habeas corpus dahil mukhang hapi-hapi lang naman sila sa Mindanao sa ngayon. Pa pektyur-pektyur pa nga o. 😂

I'll wait and see. Hold your judgment until later.

Hirap kasi... People are thinking Martial Law = Marcos' Martial Law and that's what they're telling millennials now. What you're doing is passing judgment on the current administration for something that has never happened (so called abuse of power). Be objective and give the government a fair shake.

I trust our President, simple as that. If we over analyze everything, nganga tayo lahat. People have always been clamoring for the government to do their work. Well, here now is a situation where they have a chance to shine.

    Wait and see.

^ Abay si Dutiti na mismo ang nag sabi na Martial Law will be harsh.

Besides wala namang spill over ang pag declare ng Martial Law sa buong Mindanao instead na sa Marawi lang no?

CPP orders NPA to launch more attacks in Mindanao, other regions | INQUIRER.net Mobile

“The Party calls on the NPA to plan and carry out more tactical offensives across Mindanao and the entire archipelago,” it said in a statement released to media.
    I don't think so.

Martial law Duterte's initiative 'since many months ago' - Aguirre | INQUIRER.net Mobile

He also played down rumors that he was the “architect” of Mr. Duterte’s decision to impose martial rule in southern Philippines, which many feared might lead to human rights violations.

“It’s the President’s own initiative since many months ago,” Aguirre said in a text message to reporters.

Duterte Is The Philippines' Greatest Threat: Congress Should Cancel His Martial Law
President Duterte used the excuse of terrorism in Mindanao to declare martial law there on May 23, a martial law he is itching to expand to the rest of the country. On multiple occasions he has mooted the idea of martial law, emergency powers, or a “revolutionary government” for the Philippines to address issues as varied as traffic in Manila, impeachment, a budget impasse, and his drug war.
This is not the invasion or rebellion that constitutional framers in the Philippines had in mind when they authorized martial law and limited it to 60 days. Yet Duterte has said martial law could last a year.

Regular police or army work short of martial law has been used in the past on Mindanao, and could be used now.
If Philippine voters and political representatives do not immediately revoke martial law and impeach Duterte, they may lose the ability to do so in the future, as the fear of Duterte, and a criminal omertà, spreads.

    got this from fb:

to all my UP friends making ingay out there, don't be takot! let's make baka!

here kami in mindanao particularly in davao, despite the martial law, we still have oras to make gala around roxas to make tusok of the fishball that's making ikot around the kawali.

we even have oras to make kuha of selfies with soldiers and hindi kami scared to roam around.

what i could not make intindi is that may pa-placard pa kayong nalalaman matched with "im with the people of marawi." why dont you kuha a flight and make your way to marawi and make sabi to the maute group to stop this war? you think they will make rinig of your kaechosan?

your special effects of kilos protesta and kandila lighting skemberlu will not make balik the buhay of the people who were killed and you cannot bring back the edifices na sinunog ng mga maute.

im sure, hanggang bunganga and social media lang kayo when it comes to defending our bayan... like duh! do you know how to make hawak of guns, make it putok, and make it patay the terrorists?

why dont you make sampal these terrorists with your branded bags, make them sagasa with your cars, or better yet, make kagat of them using your breyshesh?

gawan us a favor. make punta of marawi and catch all the bala out there, not you being skeptical of what is happening here because we are totally fine here.

bye, friends. i have to go starbucks na because the driver is already outside the school, making potpot of the car to make sundo of me.

PS: i'm letting you hiram of my tank so that you can defend yourselves when you are out there in marawi.

    haha

A police action that screwed up... But at leaset DU30 got his excuse to declare Martial Law...

How a botched raid led to martial law in the Philippines

After receiving intelligence that Isnilon Hapilon had come to Marawi for medical treatment and was hiding in a house, a small group of security forces conducted what two military spokespeople described as a "surgical operation" to get him.

But, even though the region is a known hotbed of Islamist militants, the troops were taken by surprise when dozens of gunmen emerged to defend Hapilon, then go on a deadly rampage throughout the city.

Could du30 have gotten his wish to have the US troops out of Mindanao before all this developed?
That might have helped the terrorists gain a foothold as those troops were providing us with intelligence capability via drones, etc.

Wala pala sinabi ito sa Mamasapano eh. Parehong botched, but this time, the whole of Mindanao (for now) suffers. Wala bang matapang diyan na mag-file ng impeachment? Hehehe.
