    Wrongly placed nostalgia.

People always have this idealized notion of how "the good old days" are much better than the present when in fact it is well and truly not.

Ako Marcos without Imelda and her relatives. Baka mas maganda chances natin. But if may Imelda, PNoy na lang.

    Rotten to the core....

Despite numerous cases being filed in the Philippines, no member of the surviving Marcos family has been successfully prosecuted and they continue to live in luxury.

Ok naman si Pnoy. I mean let's be real, our previous president was GMA...si GLORIA MACAPAGAL ARROYO, NA ASAWA NI FG ARROYO na ina ni MIKEY ARROYO..HELLOOO!! C'mon guys, people still complain, ano ba hanap nila si Lee Kuan Yew at si Otto Von Bismarck?

I won't choose either one. FM may have been a visionary but was a pushover when it comes to his wife, relatives, and friends.

I probably would choose FVR over the two - the country was already on the way up during his administration. But sadly for us, he was followed by two shitty presidents.

Mike and Mikey pa lang, talbog na tayo. :D

Panay reklamo pa rin no? Yes, we can complain about the ills of Philippine society but at the ned of the day, it's up to you to do your part.

Hard to compare a 2-year term mostly cleaning up the mess vs. Marcos' 25+ years.

Having said that, if Marcos had good values, then it would have been different. But, as history goes he lost his vision because he wasn't able to control his own and his minions' lust...

Too early to say how P-Noy is doing because although there have been some cleaning done, there is still a lot of work in the area of curbing corruption alone. On the other hand, in a short time, we could see that he is trying to restore the institutions that GMA destroyed, i.e. the judiciary, DPWH, etc. But then again, its too early to tell how far things will go...Too early, too little progress, too much to fix in the ruined bureaucracy.

At least we're moving in the right direction in terms of transparency, credibility, and earning public trust. Investments are coming in, credit rating is up, the local bourse is one of the best performing in Asia, and we're positioned for growth in the coming years even with the American and European crises.

We should focus on infrastructure---roads, bridges, power, mass transport system, etc. This will benefit mainly our agricultural and manufacturing sectors, and the working class.

We should reduce government bureaucracy especially for business, automate all major branches of government, and make it very transparent to curb corruption. Permits, licenses, and payments can be contactless (no people involved; naka-link lang lahat). We should also have a national ID system para we can weed out aliens, non-taxpayers, flying voters, etc.

We should increase our educational standards, increase public teachers salaries, to guarantee that the masses have access to books, classrooms, and competent teachers

We need a wholistic healthcare program that is focused on proactive health care. The Pinoy diet is so bad and we have yet to see anyone pushing for a healthy diet and lifestyle. Gov't should subsidize food to the poor instead of condoms ()

We need charter change for a lot of good reasons, but we need to change one badly: 6 years is too short for a good president, and too long for a bad one. Let's do two or even three terms of 4 years each.

Since we're having lunch, I just asked my Father-in-law who has been a career DPWH employee since 1975 (he started as a working student) in how it was in their line of work before and now:

    - During the Marcos years, yes there were some big ticket infrastructure projects for show, but there were even more ghost projects then one could ever imagine, but could never question.

    - Now, during PNoy's time, projects are well scrutinized and yes it was slow at the start and it is far from perfect to the public but there are gains starting to show in terms of costing and transparency. The fact that some private contractors i know who had it good during the GMA years are pissed off at Pnoy or are not as high living as they once were, may say something.

During the Cory years, it was difficult to move the country due to unrest and the bankrupt national coffers inherited from 20 years of Macoy, his family, and their cronies. One point of focus was using the little funds we could get to pay off debt so we could negotiate for new debt to get the country running. Today, we are reaping a lot of what has been learned and built over the last 3 decades, post EDSA. It's not perfect but we gone a long way as a country and hopefully, we all learn and continue the long, hard journey rather than be blinded by high falluting promises and self serving agendas.

People say Marcos did a lot of things. Well, what do you expect from some one held on to power for so long... for many, he was the only president for 21 long years.

Yeah, its pointless to compare a 2 year and a 21 year reign.

All economic evidences point to the downfall of our country during the time of marcos. How can someone say that is was a good reign?
