    need your opinion here guys:

having power is a good motivator ika nga to have sense or meaning in life.

ito yun pinag-uusapan natin noon bata pa tayo, paglaki ko ganito gusto ko mangyari. and d'ba usually noon bata pa tayo we dont take into consideration the costs, basta gusto natin gawin , dun tayo masaya eh

politicians are just representatives of a cause worth fighting for or a clash of warring opinions. yun nag-raise ng 100M for him has interests to protect. interests than can serve another but put another into a 6-foot grave.

let's take for example the call center industry. if for say Erap in his ruling days, concentrated more on gambling and all forms of gambling as a major source of income for Filipinos. hindi niya papansinin ang call center industry. to him parang farfetched iyun.

so what will you do as a businessman or an entrepreneur who had the idea that call center can be something big someday, lobby for it and get political allies. it'll cost a lot of money. but it will become a policy one day.

look at us now, a fraction of Filipinos are dependent on the call center industry. This let your parents buy cars, shelter, food for you. that's politics * work.

there are so many policies that can be adopted and invented. most of the time nag-clash yan kasi may kanya-kanya interest. hence, from policy naging politics (or politicking) and therefore, the rise of the politician.

whether we like it or not, politicians are bigger than 25k to 100k salaries.

this moves us all to the future. kaya ganyan ang gastusan dyan to the tune of Billions.

mahirap talaga maging estudyante at ibase lang lahat sa natutunan sa books, we should get involve in the system to fully realize na necessary ang lahat ng nangyayari na ito sa'tin. even after a nuclear war, and na-wipe out lahat ng major cities oozing with bureaucracy, politics and red tape. yun mga survivors will still have politics and politicians

plus pork barrel funds - 200 million para sa senador at 60 million para sa congressman per year. kung gagastos ang isang senador ng 100 M sa elections at manalo, bawi na agad niya ang investment at me 100% pang tubo after a year. tapos wala pang public accountability kung saan napunta ang pera.

paglilingkod sa bayan?

    + 1 on theveed.

Only oldblue's post makes sense and explains a lot of things. You can't just generalize that because a senator's income is measly and he spent millions - then he has no choice but to be corrupt. That's grade school level politics.

Many politicians are already well-off to begin with. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they use solely their own money for campaigning. You have there the groups that will try to lobby for the politician's support - that is where big money comes in. Networking with these groups and building their trust is the hardest thing to do as a politician.

And you have to swallow that every politician has an agenda be it here or in any other developed country. But that doesn't mean that the said agenda is bad in itself. Heck, the level of politics here is not even close to the savvy underworkings of US politics.

Btw, the 200M pork barrel of each senator can be accounted for. It is not an open purse where you can use it up for whatever reason you want. Outright stating that all of this will be pocketed by a said senator without any proof is just plain childish.

Op kors not! Which makes you wonder.
