Partly true. Halos araw-araw may display of dead bodies in our plaza. They were covered with banana leaves. Families with female teenagers were always wary and so scared of soldiers courting or abducting their children. ano ba specific 'Marcos time' are we talking about, pre-martial law or after martial law was declared? because I think they're practically different eras.

I remember before in the early 90's when my brother and I (we were in our late teens then) were discussing politics and we brought up the idea na bagay sa atin martial law kasi ang gulo gulo na sa bansa, bigla kaming nasigawan ng dad ko. sabi 'bata pa kayo nung martial law kaya di niyo alam sinasabi niyo. hindi na dapat maulit yun.' I guess that says it all.

Wala kang kakatakutan noon if you were apolitical and apathetic. Meaning wala kang paki sa politics and to whatever was happening to your govt. If you tolerated corruption, torture, warrantless arrests. But if I will based it on how our family lived, I would say pareho lang, mahirap noon, mahirap din ngayon. Medyo marami nga lang mabibili pera mo noon.

As for the curfew and longhair, hindi naman nagtagal yun, ilang buwan lang yata after declaring Martial Law, I remember my brother was caught for the "long-hair" thing. Pinag tabas ng damo sa EDSA (Hiway-54 then).

IMO, the Martial Law thing is more like a political thing by Ferdie, it's not like it was declared because people are rioting in the streets because there are no food or basic services or such, so like JackFlash said, if you're apolitical or just minding your own business, life was pretty much normal naman.
