    The gunman had a history of domestic violence(which got him dishonorably discharged from the Air Force), and was once admitted to a mental health institution but escaped. How on earth was he able to get an assault rifle?

    The US is the only country with widely different gun control laws compared to other developed nations. And unsurprisingly it's the only nation with a phenomenally high rate of mass shootings.
