What I don't understand is the governments inability to think around the problem.

Why settle at 15 year old jeeps?

Why not publish a minimum standard of road-worthiness (including emissions) that all PUVs must meet, lest they face permanent removal from the road?

In Thailand, they use city buses from nineteen-kopong-kopong. They don't belch black smoke. They aren't horrible death traps.

Force operators to meet minimum standards, and the rest follows.

Of course, since it's easier to lay down a blanket ban, sure, let's do that. Go ahead.

Most owners or operators of PUVS are either police or municipal employees themselves. In the same ways as public vendors are located on stoplights, gsnun din ang jeepney.

The government doesnt think. It's held in blackmail in all corners : rank and file employees, enforcers, lobbyists, and the media.

All this contribute to why we are now? It's not even where that is question. Because we never get anywhere.

dati... bago nalagay sa spotlight.. sa makati, ng makati anti-smoke belching units..
on-the-spot nga... but private vehicles at delivery vans lang ang sinisita! yung mga PUJ at PUB, hindi man lang tinitignan..

napnsin ko nga yun kahit nung sa roxas blvd & macapagal yung operation nila,e bihira mga jeep dun. dun sila sa taft ave ewan ko lang kung hindi ma 10x yung mga huli nila!

sakakahit 15yrs old naman yung jeep basta roadworthy ok na e,kaya lang karamihan kasi walang ilaw,ang usok tabingi na yung iba,butas ang sahig etc..!

Napaka hirap nitong e patupad..malabo matangal ang 15years old na jeep.. tingin ko dapat nilang gawin e bigyan ng taning lahat ng mag papa register ng jeep starting this year na 15years na lang nila pwede gawing public transport ang jeep nila.. ang issue diyan e san naman dadalhin ang mga jeep na yun.
