tingin ko it will take another generation to phase out jeepneys

    current operators are gen X

probably inherited the livelihood from their parents

No need to Phase out ang jeeps, just PROPERLY IMPLEMENT the vehicle checklist sa mga public utility vehicles sigurado marami mababawas.

so they pressured the gov't to exempt them

hahaha... I'm one of those guys.

pero coming from a family who was in the PUV business... its time to modernize them

pansin ko na yung nakikita ng madami is palitan yung old jeeps with newer Euro-4 jeeps...

pero the program is not that simple. ayaw na ni LTFRB yung individual Operators. they want a company or cooperative to own and run the business (I believe minimum 15 units). tapos bawal na boundary system sa drivers

problem kasi with the boundary system is that kapag kumita na yung driver ng 3pm... nag-sisiuwian na sila, so pahirapan na sumakay sa gabi.

IMO, we deserve better PUVs. yung FX and UV Express was a nice start. Pero it was still run and owned by single operators tapos boundary system yung driver.

We need our PUVs to be running for 8 hours/day.

    .
    my proposal,
    lay down the requirements.
accost those who do not comply.
confiscate the erring vehicles on the road where they ply, and do not let them out of the corral until they are fixed enough as to comply.
should they fail within the grace period,
dump them into the coral farm.

    as I mentioned earlier...

don't look at the individual jeep...

LTFRB wants the system to be run by corporations/cooperatives who will hire drivers as regular employees - no more boundary system.

no more single operators. and yun ang iniiyak nila.

One of my dad's friend has more than 20 traditional jeeps... she bought 2 "modern jeeps" during the pandemic to prepare for the modernization. more than a year later, wala pa din franchise yung 2 new Euro-4 jeeps nya as they want her to either start a company, or join a cooperative. something she is not willing to do as the jeeps' OR/CR will be under the company/cooperative.

I guess FX Taxis were phase out already? Why not... these jeepneys are worse than these fx's if you ask me.
But expect more resistance from them because they have the numbers

it's time to put it where it belongs... under the law!

wanna improve metro manila air? tax diesel fuel very heavily! give hefty tax breaks to electric vehicles.

    my point being...
there's no secret to clean air.
    it's just political will.

Removing the government subsidy for diesel won't stop them from using our roads. They'll just pass it over the "extra" to the riding public.
Political will to implement any existing laws to prevent them plying our roads might be the answer

Gov't talks about replacing jeepneys with e-jeeps as if they were changing a lightbulb; they seldom think about providing the supporting infra:

-- do we have enough charging stations? How long does it take to fully charge an e-jeep? Do we have enough batteries and how much to they cost?
-- do we have enough mechanics to service these e-jeeps? Spare parts?

Ganyan ang nangyari sa CNG bus project ni GMA; me nauto siyang bus companies into joining the project, kaso walang CNG refilling stations.

imho, should government really push this w/o giving ample infra, dalawa lang ang mangyayari: jeepney drivers will go back to using old dirty diesel jeepneys, or they will sell their jeepneys and get a taxi/FX/UV express/Uber franchise.

    Pano nakalusot yung ganun?

Ha-ha.
At madalas, umiigkas yung kambyo. Bwisettt.

Dapat talaga iphase out na Kasi pinapaihi pa la yan sa gasolinahan para walang bubbles sa umaga causing undue stress to motorists with expensive SUVS or cheap commercial diesel trucks just to save P50-P80, kahit magantay ng 30 min. Tapos nagging source pa ng injustice coz of marginalizing people

Sama na pati tricycle. Maglakad, magbisikleta at mag motor.
