The senators know that the majority of Pinoys don't like Corona's face. So they do not fear convicting him.

Senate will convict Chief Justice Corona: analyst

MANILA, Philippines – The Senate will likely convict Chief Justice Renato Corona on Article 2 of the impeachment complaint and affirm the Constitution's superiority over the foreign currency deposit law, a political analyst said Friday.

Prof. Jun Salipsip of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies and the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines said he observed senator-judges raising the issue of the Constitutional requirement that government officials disclose all of their assets, liabilities, and net worth.

"Based on the questions of the senators (to Corona), it seems that they will base their decision on the Constitution," Salipsip told ANC.

Article 2 of the impeachment complaint against Corona accuses him of failing to disclose all of his assets and liabilities as required by the Constitution and as provided for by law, Section 8 of Republic Act 6713, or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

impeachment maybe inevitable but to jail him, I doubt. ang ma-accomplish lang dyan is forced resignation w/c btw baka nga gusto na ni Corona bumitiw noon pa pumutok ang issue. Syempre, if he resigns kagad, that's admission of guilt. So ang pinahirap LNG Nya yun gusto Nya gawin. The guy is liquid. Dun p LNG dapat maisip na nila may escape plan yan.

and from the looks of it, he'll be back sa next term when Pnoy is out of the presidency. Nag-iipon LNG ng kalaban si Pnoy. sa Dami Nya pinahiya na pulitiko sa national TV i.e. reyes suicide, GMA escape foiling and this impeachment for show trial. The powers that be will be very very surgical sa pagganti, isa isahin siguro ang Student Council nya, when the time comes. There is a reason why Hindi pina-publicize every detail mga ganito issue. what Pnoy just did is add more numbers sa mga distrustful/suspicious sa govt.

If he were to be impeached he is bar from holding any govt position forever.

Then ombudsman can file criminal case against him after the impeachment.

impeachment is quick bec there is public pressure. Kung regular trial criminal case, that's his territory bec he is the supreme court. anong ilalaban ng Morales dyan once the Senate is out. Mga de-kalidad na abugado kaya hawak niya and of course those in the judiciary who sympathize with him. and like any other hi-profile trial, maybe it'll take 20 years. By that he has spent all the money na naitago Nya over 160M and the generation of that time don't care anymore, tayo ba do we care sa mga kaso nun 90s.

Final oral arguments for both sides, one hour each. Then the Senate court will decide to vote on that day or the next.

Impeachment against CJ Corona..
