sa tingin ko parang case ni pakyaw, nung una ayaw talaga pumayag sa OSDT (siguro dahil sa pride), pero bandang huli, papayag din pala.

yung vehicle ni cj, na-apprehend daw ng police since the plate no. belongs to another vehicle.
sabi naman ni atty. tranquil, it is from a rent a car vehicle. the car doesn't belong to cj.

kala ko nahuli dahil sa wang-wang. (remember the case of chavit before?)

AFAIK, per PD 96, hindi exempted si Corona. Kung ang President, VP, Senate President and House Speaker, (who all rank above the Thief Justice in terms of presidential succession) ay hindi gumagamit ng wang-wang, siya pa.

It would be pathetic na he's acting as if he has a grave medical condition now, pero pag na-acquit siya (wag sana!!!), he would be again in the pink of health!

    Sic transit gloria mundi.

Corona says SALN is in conflict with the FCDU secrecy law. The law states:

Section 8. Secrecy of foreign currency deposits. – All foreign currency deposits authorized under this Act, as amended by PD No. 1035, as well as foreign currency deposits authorized under PD No. 1034, are hereby declared as and considered of an absolutely confidential nature and, except upon the written permission of the depositor, in no instance shall foreign currency deposits be examined, inquired or looked into by any person, government official, bureau or office whether judicial or administrative or legislative, or any other entity whether public or private; Provided, however, That said foreign currency deposits shall be exempt from attachment, garnishment, or any other order or process of any court, legislative body, government agency or any administrative body whatsoever. (As amended by PD No. 1035, and further amended by PD No. 1246, prom. Nov. 21, 1977.)

May provided clause rito. Exempted siya dahil sa order of our legislative body thru the SALN law RA 3019:

Section 7. Statement of assets and liabilities. Every public officer, within thirty days after the approval of this Act or after assuming office, and within the month of January of every other year thereafter, as well as upon the expiration of his term of office, or upon his resignation or separation from office, shall prepare and file with the office of the corresponding Department Head, or in the case of a Head of Department or chief of an independent office, with the Office of the President, or in the case of members of the Congress and the officials and employees thereof, with the Office of the Secretary of the corresponding House, a true detailed and sworn statement of assets and liabilities, including a statement of the amounts and sources of his income, the amounts of his personal and family expenses and the amount of income taxes paid for the next preceding calendar year: Provided, That public officers assuming office less than two months before the end of the calendar year, may file their statements in the following months of January.

So for this small oversight, pwede na grounds to declare Corona guilty, including most of our Senators, Congressman, Cabinet Secretaries, President, etc.

^^ its the law. Oversight or good faith, he should know better. Or in fact he should know best because he is the cj. No doubt that there are public officals na under declare assets but they are not the ones in trial.

Cops to impound CJ vehicle for plate-switching
    by Jojo Malig, ABS-CBNnews.com

MANILA, Philippines - Police will impound the vehicle that carried Chief Justice Renato Corona to the Senate impeachment court last Tuesday because of suspected plate-switching, police said Friday.

Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group told radio dzMM that Nutrifarm President Bonifacio Gomez on Wednesday filed a complaint with Cebu police against Corona for illegal transfer of plate.

Gomez, in his complaint, said Corona's vehicle, a Chevrolet Suburban, bore plate number ZEE-868 that was originally for their vehicles, a Mitsubishi L300 delivery van.

He said he saw the plate number on Corona's vehicle on May 22 as shown by the Senate CCTV and television footage.

"I was suprised to see the plate number of one of our company cars... attached to his vehicle," Gomez said.

Espina said Gomez carried with him a certificate of registration and an official receipt from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to prove his claim.

"Vinerify ho namin sa LTO," Espina said. "Legitimate po itong lahat na pinakita niyang papers. Tugma ho per LTO records para sa L300 FB van ho."

Espina said police will impound the Chevrolet Suburban that the Chief Justice uses for futher investigation in connection with suspected violation of Batas Pambansa 43 or the illegal transfer of plate.

Atty. Tranquil Salvador, a spokesman for Corona, told ANC that the Suburban is only a rented vehicle.

He did not say from whom Corona rented the car.
