it's not that it did not matter whether he was guilty or not; sa SC kasi kasi innocent until proven guilty without reasonable doubt based on the evidence presented. parang ang nangyari sa initial trial and previous appeals eh guilty until proven innocent.

what we have here in tolentino, court of appeals, and the nbi is bowing to the pressure to have somebody behind bars as soon as possible. hayan, saan nila hahanapin ngayon yung true perpetrators after 20years? wtf

MANILA, Philippines - Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said on Wednesday that she will order a reinvestigation into the nearly 20-year-old Vizconde massacre case.

De Lima, however, clarified the reinvestigation is only intended to provide closure to the case, and that gathering more evidence against those accused in the gruesome murders in June 1991 would be futile since they cannot be charged because of the double jeopardy doctrine.

As per the interview I listened to yesterday, may binabanggit si Webb na someone very powerful at that time na nakabangga niya in some expose he made when he was a senator and has a connection to this incident. hinde na rin importante yun alibi ni Webb, since sa court eh alibi is the weakest form of defense. so automatic weak na yun alibi niya, wala na rin kwenta yun DNA dahil nawala na nga.

burden of proof nasa prosecution, hinde nila na back up yun accusation nila kaya acquitted sila Webb.
