sana ituloy na ito ng BSP, lalu tataas ang approval rating ni Arrovo nito.
huwag sana sila masuhulan ng credit card companies.

like that guy Alex Ilagan said, surcharging might not be against the law today, but it is certainly breach of contract. credit card/merchant standard agreements almost always make the merchant promise that they will not pass along the fees to the customer.

no CC company in their right mind would oppose this law. surcharging makes consumers pay cash and not use their credit cards, which lessens the profits that the CC's make. the only people who benefit from surcharges are the merchants who feel that they are above the agreements that they themselves sign, and breach the terms of that agreement willingly and often.

btw, which CC network charges the merchants 7%? that's ridiculously high - dito mataas na ang 3%....and that is for high-risk merchants.

In the free market, INCENTIVE drives people.

Here, there is more incentive in using cash.

Merchants prefer cash. They encourage cash and discourage credit.

That's why after decades, credit card use here is still not taking off.

surcharging is only applied to less than 10% of our overall products here. those 10% are products that have really really low markups, if we dont pass on the surcharge to customers, we are essentially giving the product away (lugi pa sa capital), if we automatically add the surcharge to the selling price, magagalit ang cash paying customer, bakit daw mas mahal compared to other stores. so no choice yan. at least the customer has a choice.

regardless if the problem comes from the banks or the merchants, there are obstacles to the growth of credit card use here.

Kung gusto nila dumami at lumakas ang pag gamit ng credit card, ayusin nila.

it should start from the CC companies, if they dont charge this high then pwede pa absorb ng merchants. with the current system, if a merchant removes surcharge from his low markup goods, then he may just as well refuse CC cards on those goods since pointless na magbenta na palugi.

merchants ang naiipit e, we have to provide attractive prices but at the same time satisfy the CC users. madali lang sabihin 'ayusin' yan pero di ganyan kabilis 'ayusin'.
