while all this brouhaha about proclamation 1017 is going on ..and this conspiracy theory about the leftists and rightists getting together for a plot to "destroy our democracy"....most of us failed to see what is happening in the background.... like...
- senate report on the misuse of the agriculture fund, concluding that the president is also responsible for the misuse
- senate report on the garci issue
- the internal report from within the military about the vote rigging and the involvement of high ranking military personnel

actually, from the onset of all those issues being hurled against GLUE-ria, medyo i can't help it but admire her too! galing nya mag-manipulate and magpaikot sa kalaban. Instead of her being in the defensive, nababaliktad nya at ang lumalabas, oppositions pa ang kailangang nasa defensive side!

Magaling sya, pero sadly (in my view and i'm not saying i'm right) all the efforts and resources are spent para lang mag-stay sya sa power!

i agree with the veteran journalists who were interviewed. it demeans the office of the president to pit one network after another. GMA shouldn't underestimate the masses. they know, to a certain degree, what responsible journalism is. There is no need for her to point these things out. so the motive is only to divide and conquer.

IMHO, it's a mixture of things.

Nung kapanahunan ni former President Estrada, ABS-CBN (well, majority of their people) eh solid supporter ni Erap e.g. Korina Sanches, Ted Failon. While they denied it on air, halatang halata naman sa delivery nila ng news - lalo na nung impeachment trial. Tpos, nung naupo na si GMA, abah, within a few months eh they're singing a new tune.

You could not also discount the fact that there are now family ties between the Lopezes and the Estradas. Tapos, kaninong term ba tumabo ng husto ang MERALCO at mga Lopez? AFAIK, nung term ni Erap.

I'm no GMA fan, nor I am an Erap fan. Hindi rin ako Kapuso or Kapamilya. In fact, bihira akong manood ng programs ng GMA-7 at ABS-CBN. Pero, sa observations ko sa limited times when I get to watch the public affairs programs of both channels, mas balanced ang delivery ng GMA-7. Dun sa isang early morning AM radio show ng DZMM (Taberna at that other fellow) abah, kung banatan nila si GMA eh parang wala ng ginawang tama yung tao.

Sabi nga ni GMA, the economy is picking-up, with the peso appreciating against the dollar. Pero di naman nararamdaman ng "common tao" yung effect. Mga presyo ng bilihin, di naman bumababa.

Actually, kasalanan niyan ni Erap... dami kasing nag-migrate noong time niya... ayun... dumami ngayon ang earnings natin sa remittances now that they're well settled.

And thanks to the political bickering and back and forth from both sides... people are still leaving as quickly as they can graduate... and they're still sending in megabucks.

Siguro, by the next decade, we can be the first nation to have most of its voting population overseas...
