Im getting a feeling that a different SC Justice will be swearing in President Noynoy Aquino on June 30, 2010.

Sinabi na kasi niya noon na hindi niya ire-recognize yung CJ na appointed ni Pandak. There are no legal hindrances naman kung sakali, hindi naman yata required na CJ ang magswear-in sa incoming President (AFAIK).

The Supreme Court already made a ruling that GMA can appoint the next chief justice. GMA already appointed one. Unless the Supreme Court reverses its own ruling, there is no way noynoy can appoint his own chief justice.

    Noynoy's reaction to the appointment:

Her appointment of a Chief Justice in waiting is at the very least inappropriate. Chief Justice Puno’s term has not ended. There is no vacancy to be filled.

We call upon her to recognize the new government’s right to appoint the next Chief Justice.

There is still time for Mrs. Arroyo to reconsider her decision. We hope she will choose not to add another burden on top of everything else she will be leaving behind. She should instead concentrate on ensuring a smooth transition.

We will resolve the problem of the appointment of the Chief Justice with the utmost consideration for the provisions of the Constitution and the interest of the Filipino people.

That'd really let the proverbial fur fly.

Corona should do himself a favor and decline the appointment. Of course, asa pa tayo na ganun nga ang mangyayari.

With GMA, nothing surprises me anymore.

She shows no delicadeza, no remorse, no statemanship, pure BS.

Halimbawang si Corona na nga ang CJ, pwede bang palitan ulit siya ni Noynoy, after he's sworn into office?

Nope. The only way for a new CJ can assume the post would be for Corona to resign or be impeached. Justices can serve until they reach the mandatory retirement age of 70.

Magandang laban to kung sakali. Kung may delicadeza si Corona, he must decline the appointment. But then again, as they say, it is every lawyer's dream to assume become CJ.

Well, suffice it to say that every case tackled by the High Court involving Arroyo and her cohorts would be under intense scrutiny, if not criticism for perceived partiality. I bet Corona won't even have it in him to inhibit if such a case falls on his lap.
