personally i dont like gloria pero what the girl did e stupidity at its fullest. remember igalang ang matatanda and don't interrupt when one is talking hehehe
Saw this from CNN recently, a heckler (a Chinese woman) during the state visit of President Hu in the US. With him is Pres. Bush in the stands. As per CNN, the woman was shouting (in Chinese, for about 3 min.), on top of her voice, during the speech of Pres. Hu, until she was whisked away by security men.
In this situation, siguro okay lang ito(?). Pero kung sa graduation naman......maraming maiinis sa ginawa ni Miss Pangilinan. Yung mga magulang, hindi masaya sa nangyari.

What de Quiros wrote in his column is no longer surprising. As I see it, that person is an older version of Pangilinan. Para sa kanya, walang mali sa ginawa nung bata. Well, that's his opinion. Sa kanya, ok yun. Pero sa ibang tao na di ganun ka-liberal ang kinamulatan....medyo unacceptable na pag-uugali yun. The only problem is, a majority of those present during the occasion were there just for the graduation. They probably didn't even care kung sino ang "special guest". Ang ipinunta nila doon ay ang pagtatapos ng anak o kaibigan nila. Mr. Roces hit it right on the nail by what he wrote. "The very first thing we learned in school during our time was Good Manners and Right Conduct. What happened in that graduation was the complete opposite. It was Bad Manners and Wrong Conduct." And what he said was true. These "activist" types cannot be called oppositionists simply because all they call for is for Ate Glo to step down. Sigaw sila "Transition gov't". Pero do they really offer anything concrete to back up these "plans"? Parang wala e. It seems all they can offer is talk, no action. Now if anybody, like this girl for example can offer the people something solid. Baka sakali pang pakinggan siya ng mga tao. Pero as it is, she's just that, all talk. What a waste!

Individual opposition to President Arroyo
ROSES AND THORNS By Alejandro R. Roces
The Philippine Star 04/25/2006
A provincial school invited President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to be its commencement speaker. While Pres. Arroyo was delivering her speech, one of the graduating students got up and demanded that she step down from office. Unperturbed, President Macapagal Arroyo continued her speech as if nothing had happened. Later, the graduating student even went up the stage to receive her diploma.
To us, this is a very disappointing incident. The very first thing we learned in school during our time was Good Manners and Right Conduct. What happened in that graduation was the complete opposite. It was Bad Manners and Wrong Conduct. The school cannot be blamed for what happened. How can a school be held to account for the misbehavior of an individual student? But those in charge of security should have taken the girl outside as soon as she shouted "Gloria Step Down." Instead, they even allowed her to go upstage to get her diploma. Now, she has already graduated so the school has no disciplinary authority over her.
What the incident reveals is the fact that there is no organized opposition to GMA’s administration to this day. So far, those who oppose the GMA regime have limited their activities to street rallies asking for the President to step down. It has not flourished because they cannot even say why she should step down. If there is a case against her, then constitutionally, she should be impeached. The impeachment case filed against her did not prosper. And so far, there seem to be no charges against her with evidence that will stand up in court.
The truth is that to this time, the opposition has no political figure that represents the opposition. There are many who oppose GMA but not a single one has come out with his own program. At most, they talk of a transition government.
So long as the opposition is limited to such incidents as one graduating student demanding that GMA step down from office, GMA is more than super-secure in office. The word oppositionist should not even be used for such people. The proper word for them is heckler.
Oppositionists should bring out issues against the President. And the proper venue for them is the court. We have a Constitution and we should abide by it.
We should not use private events to demand that any political figure step down from his duly appointed or elected office. Graduation exercises should be held to honor the graduates. It has nothing to do with public officials. We hope that schools will take some precautionary measures to ensure that what happened to GMA in a school graduation does not happen to any of their future guest speakers.
While I agree that what the girl did was wrong ( previous post) any claim that GMA is 'super secure' in her post could not be further from the truth. The senate is already anti-GMA. The Supreme Court, despite being mostly GMA appointees, has already ruled on the unconstitutionality of EO464 (the act created to block senate inquiries) and the CPR. PD1017 isn't far behind.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Congressional support, like I've said before, will only last until the next election... when reps will ponder whether or not a pro-GMA stance will help them win. Thus, while actions like these by the left and the pro-ERAP camp may come off as ludicrous attempts at garnering media mileage, there is a silent opposition that is actually working on ousting GMA in a constitutional manner.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
In other words, don't draw generalizations about GMA's enemies by the actions of one group or even one person. Just because the communists don't like Imelda, for example, doesn't make her an angel... or all her critics devils.![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
yes, i agree that it's idiotic to draw generalizations about anything from limited experience. i might have even said that before in a previous post na medyo dine-dedmaOriginally Posted by niky

Well, if you really need a reply: Generalization, although from time to time is not accurate, it should be also a wake up call to other people to remind them of what is happening in your society.
Take for example Filipino time or the practice of being late always. I'm Filipino and I'm always punctual so I don't practice Filipino time. Pero everbody's reffering it as being practiced by most Filipino, hence the generalization. I tend to look at this as a reminder of things not to do.
In case of Americans, I call it as it is. You'll see them shouting at the elderly, putting them at retirement homes rather than keeping them in your house, acting like a$$holes, etc. But I know a lot of Americans who are not like that at all. they're friendly, kind, etc.
So it is very easy to generalize, and if someone is offended by it, I'll just say probably not you but most of you are.
Medyo OT na ito.![]()
So, from all these discussions I conclude:
Ms. Pangilinan was a genuine mambabastos.
Ms. Arroyo is a fake president.
I rest my case.![]()

you know, if you had just made a comment that decency and manners are eroding in American society, i wouldn't have a problem with it. i'd even agree. but it's ignorant to say ALL Americans (which, btw, are not just Caucasians - they are also Indians, blacks, latinos, pinoys and other asians who are from here) are disrespectful.Originally Posted by Mguy

is it true that all Filipinos are domestic helpers? that's a question that i was asked all the time when i was growing up....said by other equally ignorant people.
