They make it sound like some flash mob media event.

We had a taste of that right after Yolanda passed through Tacloban. Shirts from Robinson's department store(sold openly days after, with the price tag still attached), chest freezers, etc. were stolen just hours after it passed, so the argument about people being driven to loot out of desperation seems a bit of a stretch. We even saw a store owner fending off looters with a gun.

Media didn't make that big of a fuss about it though. Pag nakita ng tao yan, i wouldn't blame them if they had second thoughts about making donations.

if CNN reported it, it will undermine their liberal/SJW narrative

CNN is very anti-gun. Multiple gun deaths are bound to get their attention. Fox would jump at it as well although for different reasons. Florida got spared a Katrina-like situation. So, I doubt the shootings happened.

Florida has different terrain from New Orleans. I doubt a Katrina-like isolation will ever happen. even when Hurricane Andrews hit back in 1992, the areas affected were never in isolation.

indeed they are very much anti-2nd amendment. if CNN reported that a bunch of shop owners defended themselves from an organized looting spree, then wouldn't that further the counter narrative of the pro 2nd amendment people? good guy with a gun shots bad guys with a gun.
