ER Ejercito disqualified by Comelec for poll overspending | Inquirer News

MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday disqualified Laguna governor Emilio Ramon “ER” Ejercito for overspending in the 2013 elections.

Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr., in a statement, said the poll body’s 1st Division “resolved to disqualify the incumbent governor for campaign overspending.”

However, Ejercito may still file a Motion for Reconsideration within the next five days.
Comelec said the incumbent governor spent P6 million in television advertisements alone when he was only allowed to spend P4.5 million for the 1,525,522 registered voters in the province.

Under Comelec Resolution no. 9615, candidates may only spend P3 for “every voter currently registered in the constituency where the candidate filed his certificate of candidacy.”

INQUIRER.net tried to reach the Ejercito for his reaction but has yet to receive a reply.
“We’re not kidding,” Brillantes said, explaining that they were seriously pursuing cases against erring candidates to “level the playing field in the electoral process.”

According to Comelec, Ejercito won in the last elections with 549,310 votes.
Ejercito, son of actor George Estregan and nephew of former President Joseph Estrada, has been acting in movies before he entered politics. Early this year, he bagged Best Actor awards for the film “El Presidente” at the Famas (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences) and the PMPC Star Awards for Movies.

Yung mga nandadaya nga di mapatalsik, tapos eto napaka-babaw na dahilan disqualified agad. And we are talking about a multi-awarded governor for excellent public service.. Ano ba gusto ng comelec, puros balasubas na lang mga pinuno natin?

Baka naman pwedeng yun disqualification is not based on overspending, but on looks na lang. Nakakaasar yun itsura ni ER, bilog pa salamin.

But seriously, this is not a good time to be part of the opposition. We all hate jinggoy, but we can all agree with him that its turning out to be selective, everything is being thrown at the opposition. As if the the administration and allies are all squeaky clean.

By the way pag ba donated hindi siya considered as expense nung tumakbo?

    Lets say

"this ad is paid by friends of juan dela cruz"

Kadalasan ganyan diskarte ng politiko eh.

kasama yang donations alam ko.. lahat nang donations accounted for at dapat report sa comelec.. diba ganyan yung kay nancy binay.. parang sumobra pa daw yung contributions dahil sa donations kesa don sa nagastos.. so parang kumita pa sya..
