    Change - a commodity so dearly sought by the masses that exists in the unfathomable future yet adorns every political candidate's plethora of campaign ads. The people in turn, hypnotized by these repetitive and deceptive ads, would be lured to cast their votes yet little do they know that they are victims of these subconscious trickery.

    That, lads and lassies, is the magic of political ads. However, campaigning doesn't stop there and in fact, it has even evolved into a new form!

    <sarcasm>

    Surveys! yesseri! step right up! Guaranteed to make even the least qualified person into a winner! Why spend on the old methods which have COMELEC restrictions on them when you can "campaign" through surveys!

    What?! Surveys not good enough for you? Well, you can always use your parents name right? You're a chip from the ole block after all and people actually think the same!

    What?! You don't have anything to back up your qualification as a candidate? Doncha worry with that! People can't read anyway so we'll flash them with eye candies and happy go lucky songs every 10 minutes or so! People are suckers from those anyway!

    What?! You became the laughing stock in a debate? Doncha worry, they're just a few bunch of insignificant entities anyway so we'll just flash in even more advertisement and never speak about that debate. Who needs them anyway? People like colorful and happy songs, not some debate that they won't listen to.

    What?! Your platforms aren't realistic enough? Well, who needs realistic plans anyway? People like sleeping and dreaming in their La-La-La feel good fantasy lands.

    What?! None of these work? Well, you can always ask somebody to post your qualifications on some random forum of fanbois. They are mindless zombies afterall!

    What?! They're not buying it? Well, we can always beg for their support using our proven analogy that nobody would even dare question it!

    What?! It isn't working? Well we can always use your sister and her son. Everybody likes a mother and son tandem right?

    What?! Nothing works? Oh well. At least those money spent aren't yours anyway! Suckers. Hehehe

    </sarcasm>
    Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

    philippine election is just like any placebo effect product/commodity. there's this inner desire for change so that we can move on yet the more we clamor for change in our lives the more we stay the same.

elections: a social cancer
