when media outlets were shut down recently, it wasn't curtailment of freedom. but when fb accounts used by d30 supporters, china, and gov't agencies were shuttered, it's supposedly a clear violation of freedom of speech.

One authoritative Oxford University study in 2017 showed that Duterte's 2016 presidential campaign spent up to $200,000 on a state-of-the-art "troll army" organized by former advertising and media executives.
The company's latest crackdown in the Philippines also involved over 150 suspicious accounts based in China, advancing pro-Beijing disinformation on sensitive geopolitical issues such as the South China Sea disputes and Hong Kong; denigrating liberal media personalities and platforms; and support for Sara Duterte's possible candidacy in the 2022 presidential election.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has maintained majority approval and trust ratings amid Southeast Asia’s worst coronavirus outbreak, according to pollster Pulse Asia.

Duterte’s approval rating rose to 91% from 87% in December, based on a nationwide survey of 1,200 adults conducted from September 14 to 20. His trust rating also increased to 91% from 83% in December. There were no surveys in the first half of the year amid virus lockdowns.

The Philippines has the most coronavirus infections in Southeast Asia, with over 322,000 cases as of Sunday. Its economy is facing its deepest contraction in decades after plunging into recession in the second quarter.

1200 surveyed is hardly representative of the entire PHL population. 1200/110 million. Kahit pa i-assume natin na half lang ng 110 million ang adults wala pa rin sa 1% yang 1200.

They're obviously trying to mislead people into thinking that Dutae is still popular. Parang yung survey din that people see Bong gaGo as the next leader.

So, yeah. Believe what you will.

Sample size has always been around 1,000-2,000.

Basic college statistics will tell you that you only need a small sample size to accurately represent a voting poulation of 60M.

Hirap sa mga tao (whether DDS or Dilawan) - when the survey doesn't go their way, sasabihin bayaran. Pero when the very same survey company releases favorable results, walang tanong tanong on sample size.

I think it's believable that Duterte still has a very high trust rating. I'm surprised that it's as high as it is but I wouldn't put it past the typical Pinoy to still believe in their Tatay despite all the crap they've gone through because of our sub-par response to the pandemic.

Seems most people will believe what they want to believe. Our economy has been given up as an offering to the coronavirus, yet they have very little to show in terms of slowing its spread. Widespread suffering from unemployment in a barren economy. But of course, to the faithful and the troll army, still their version of paradise.
