what i mean by shutdown is pag nabadtrip sayo ang overseas customer mo dahil di ka nakadeliver as promised dahil sa dami ng holidays maghahanap siya ng ibang supplier at mawawalan ka ng business at mawawalan ng trabaho mga empleyado mo

itaas ang sweldo ng manggagawa at ibaba ang panty este ang holiday.

we are a very unproductive country. look at china dami nila holidays mataas pa sweldo and yet competitive sila. wala sa holiday yan.
sa population lang tayo productive.:D

Excuses! Other countries have more holidays than us (China 29!!) and yet they are more productive than we are. I see the problem to be the following:
1. Corruption
2. Red tape
3. Infrastructure
4. Filipino culture of wanting more (Western mentality)
5. A lot more obvious reasons that not a lot of people likes to talk about.

China actually have 2 long holidays, the chinese new year and the national day celebrations around October. A lot of jobs here in the Philippines, specially blue collar jobs, are from Monday to Saturday already.
I doubt if you could impose white collar workers to work 7 days a week.
Bottom line, holidays are the least of our problems. Better to concentrate efforts in fixing the obvious ones.
That is the reason why I travelled with my family whenever their is an opportunity when the kids...
Traffic!
