^the law intends to decongest the heavily congested penal system as it accelerates the number of years a prisoner can see daylight outside a jail by giving merit to a prisoners good behavior

It gives wardens the discretion to grant early release based on new accelerated standard for good behavior

Indulge me, sir, if you know the answers. How is parole different? Parole is slower? That's it? And those sentences that are not eligible for parole in the first place are now eligible under this "good behavior" law?

Seems to me this "law" revised the whole penal system single-handedly.

^parole is parole..its just that the computation with the new law makes it faster to release a prisoner based on good conduct

That's the brilliant thought that our legislators came up with in order to decongest the penal system

Di na daw siya kasali sa GCTA beneficiaries. There is a provision in RA 10592 that says it does noy apply to "recidivists and those convicted of heinous crimes".

The problem was with the interpretation of the BuCor. Good thing marami umalma. Mukhang luto yang kay Sanchez kasi hindi nasabihan ang pamilya ng biktima which was a requirement afaik. So mukhang may nabayaran para mapasama siya.

He is serving 7 reclusion perpetua sentences. So dapat sa unang reclusion perpetua lang muna siya pwede (let's assume na pwede siya and disregard the blatant violations he did inside) bigyan nang early release. Kaso may 6 a siyang reculsion perpetua. So mukhang sa BuCor eh pinagsama na agad yung 7 sentences into one lump sump.

Found the answer to my own question above regarding this law -- criminals who committed "heinous crimes" are not eligible. Question now is who is the wise guy who said that this rapist-murderer is eligible in the first place and caused all this public outrage for naught? Could it have been another smokescreen?

"Rape-murder convict Antonio Sanchez would be “ineligible and disqualified” from availing himself of the benefits of Republic Act No. 10592 that allows reduced jail time for inmates with good behavior, Malacaņang said Friday.

“A review of Republic Act No. 10592 or the law on Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA), which amends the Revised Penal Code on the computation of the duration of imprisonment based on an offender’s good conduct, reveals that it is categorical in excluding recidivists, habitual delinquents, escapees and persons charged with heinous crimes from the benefit of its coverage. This is the letter and the spirit of the law,” Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said.

Remember when PNoy was criticized for taking Saturdays off 2 weeks into his presidency? So how many days off Digong has spent now? How many important meetings he's missed?

i remember that. i was one of noynoy's critics. my dad and i used to have toxic arguments about pnoy pa nga because i would mock and belittle the then president. hehe

and because i spent a big chunk of my life in davao city, i knew what we were getting into when digong won the presidency, but i never expected it to be this bad. kung sa visayan pa, duterte would be called "absinot" by his constituents. but they're too damned scared to do that and i understand why too.

and to add, duterte missed the independence day & bonifacio day celebration rites but he made sure not to miss the birthday party of robin padilla and his missus. ang galing talaga
