You just chose to ignore yun sagot ni roxas, continue with the arbitration.

Big Bully has repeatedly said they will not abide by the decision of the Arbitration panel.

We can't even resolve the long festering communist insurgency and secessionist problem. Nung Sunday nalagasan tayo ng 18 tropa.

Bro.,- I have no clear definition of a "joint exploration", but then, I understand that it already started during GMA's tenure. I am not certain how tight and strong the shackles of that supposed agreement are, but then again,- this is something that the current government should have reviewed and evaluated already, [and on hindsight, "should have prevented".]

It is illogical to think that feelers between the two parties were exchanged earlier on. It's just that we are not privy to such "discussions"... Obviously, we are in no position to defend ourselves, and so we need the help of the international community to push for the peaceful solution to this issue.

China obviously is doing this, following the model of Russia on Ukraine, albeit of a different nature, which is still a stalemate.

FACT: there was a joint geophysical survey in the Spratleys island group that was done more than 10 years ago (panahon ni GMA, ERAP?) that was a joint undertaking between China, the Philippines and Vietnam. The data gathered was sent to China for processing with an agreement that the results will be shared between the 3 countries. This was going to be the basis for a joint exploration of the seas that were jointly claimed by the 3 countries. If the deposits are in uncontested waters then the 3 countries are free to explore on their own. HOWEVER THE RESULT OF THE SURVEY SHOWED THAT MUCH OF THE PETROLEUM DEPOSITS ARE WITHIN THE PHILIPPINE'S 200 MILE EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE. So what did China do? They resurrected their nine-dash-line claim to be able to claim what is in our 200 mile EEZ.

and Duterte is now willing to "share" it with China! GAG0!

Yes, during GMA's time, meron ng ganyang agreement with China. Words used to describe the agreement back then were:

    "unconsititutional"

    "act of treason"

    "sellout"

    "risky"

    "one-sided"

    "corrupt"

    "highly suspicious"

You get the picture. So why is Digong's joint exploration any different? I think it's the same banana as GMA's.

I think the current stand (court arbitration) and the one which Mar is backing is the best move for the Philippines. We've been talking with China for decades and walang nangyayari. Pina-te-teka-teka lang tayo ng China while they slowly but surely take over the disputed islands.

Digong's anti crime promise is like a siren song. It's so enticing, even though sensible people know it's not possible.

But maybe just maybe he's the one among the Presidentiables who'll make a sincere effort to take a good swing at the huge problem?

But I can't shake off the feeling that he's colluding with Binay and Marcos to fck us off 😕

I dont see why there's so much negativity w/ Digong's stance on his giveaway of those islands that China is now claiming as theirs.

On the hindsight, I think Duts is just looking 2-4 years from now in solving the immediate problem that the Philippines is facing, Those islands that we claim as ours yes they're rich in Oil /Marine Resources, but I think para sa kanya, if hindi makakatulong naman agad agad sa worsening situation ng Pinas, eh bakit pa natin pag dikdikan pa.

We all know as well we cant win with China kahit baliktarin pa ang mundo, so I think he's stand on just giving part of those claims to China in expense of China's investment to build highways and railways (if and if China would agree also) that might span from Mindanao to Manila/Luzon in just 1 ride, eh bakit hindi dba??

Panalo China, NPA and MILF kapag nanalo siya. Ayaw pa niya sa modernization ng AFP.

You personally, are not benefitting from the claim, but the contested zone is an important fishery resource for the country, being partially within the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone, and providing livelihood for many poor fishermen.

Beyond that, the potential for oil and natural gas exploration is tremendous, and is something we have not been able to pursue largely because of the political situation, with multiple countries claiming the area.

    -

Would you trade billions in potential revenue for a few infrastructure projects that will most likely be built as PPPs, wherein the Chinese partners will also benefit (no way would they build it for free... see ZTE deal)? We can still get those Chinese-backed PPPs without giving up our sovereignty rights.

    -

Also, his answer was classic bluff and bluster. Jetski out into the contested area with a flag? What the hell is this? Pirates of the Caribbean? And now he's backtracking and saying he supports the international arbitration?

This is why some of us can't take Digong seriously. We appreciate that he's forthright and that he seems to be a good administrator on the city level, but he flips and flops so much in his public statements that it's impossible to say that his stance today will still be his stance tomorrow.

Akala ko ba... decisive leader si Digong?

So... either we get the increasingly trapo-ish sounding Grace Poe, who seems to say basically what people want to hear... or Rody Duterte, who seems to say anything he thinks the people will find amusing... (for example, telling Pampanga he will free Arroyo if elected... ANGGALING!) for President... or, if we're "lucky" and the LP cheats, we get Roxas, who's not even first choice in his own party, and who we assume the trapos in the LP will walk all over, like they walk all over PNoy.

Or if we're really lucky, we get Binay, and everything will stay the same, because everyone will be watching him like a hawk.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Nothing is going to be the same when Nognog get's elected, Between the devil (Nognog) and the deep blue sea (Duterte), I'd rather swim the deep blue rather than dance with the devil.
