    it's never their fault.
    it's always someone else's fault.

haven't they heard of the saying, "the buck stops here" ?

I was very happy that Digong wanted to clean Boracay and preserve the nature in it, going as far as closing it down to push the illegal and small time resorts and non-compliant ones out of it.

Apparently, there is much bigger reason why they are clearing Boracay now.

A chinese - Yes Chinese (with kilig to the bones), casino resort developer based in Macau wanted to put up something fancy there...

I don't have a problem with the intent of preserving Boracay and cleaning up the mess created by business owners who pollute the environment.

What sends a wrong message is that the government is going to do a total closure...punishing those who follow the law along with those who violate it. No safety nets for businesses and employees who will likely go bankrupt or be out of work.

Bakit kaya?

Pati si Jollibee may tatayo rin...

Leisure & Resorts World Corp buys land for Boracay resort-casino

Aside from the island's first integrated resort and casino, the construction of a 1,001-room beachfront hotel in Boracay will push through despite the government's planned island shutdown.

Hannah Yulo, chief investment officer of DoubleDragon Properties Corporation, told reporters on the sidelines of a property launch in Taguig City last Wednesday night, March 14, that her group will not delay the construction of the Boracay hotel.

"We're still in the planning and design stages. That takes time – finalizing your plan and securing permits," Yulo said.

The hotel, to be called Hotel 101 Resort-Boracay, is a joint venture project of Hotel of Asia, a subsidiary of DoubleDragon, and Newcoast South Beach Incorporated.

It will be located in Boracay Newcoast, a 150-hectare tourism estate of Global-Estate Resorts Incorporated (GERI), a Megaworld Corporation subsidiary.

Probably had a shot of Fentanyl...

"My God, you Canadians, how stupid can you get? Our citizens are joining the ISIS so we have every right to kill our citizens because we do not want to destroy the community with apathy," Duterte told local officials in a speech at the Manila Hotel.

"G*** pala kayo...You're treating us like garbage. The entire community of the world should know that there is a Republic of the Philippines which you cannot just f****** s***. Do not do it to us because I will insult you. Who are you?" the President said.

perhaps they should look into how the other world-class beaches 'round the world, are maintained and prevented from being run over by commercialism.

is it true, that some of these beaches have annual maximum quotas?

Basta Siargao will benefit with the closure of boracay, magaling talaga si speaker. Pati yun Banana Business ni Florendo gusto niya makuha.

plus the Chinese gambling mogul who will probably able to buy more lands in boracay for a song with the closure.

What do you mean annual max quotas sir?

What I know from Underground River is that there is only a max capacity of persons/tourist per day that can be safely accommodated by the boatmen. 900-1000 pax afaik. Same with Honda Bay Island Hopping there is a max number of boats that can carry tourists.

This is considering na good weather ha.

I believe dr. d was referring to number of visitors per year and not per day. This is true for a lot of tourist sites especially those which are classified as protected areas or heritage sites. If the quota is reached before year end no more visitors will be accommodated thereafter to let the site "recover" or "regenerate".

ang labo din ni mr. president. gusto linisin ang boracay alisin mga maliliit ng resort na hinde compliant, tapos lilimatahan ang number of tourist sa isla, which is good.

pero with the news about 2 big casinos opening, so baka gusto pala nila mga mayayaman lang na sugarol ang pupunta ng boracay, so pag may casino resort susunod na jan ang prostitution at crime. ano naman gagawin ng mga gamblers sa boracay, pwede naman sila mag sugal sa COD o Solaire lalayo pa sila, masisira lang ang boracay niyan lalo.

lumabas din tunay na intensyon ni mr. president, cleaning up the road for his bestfriend.

Small and medium businessmen with not so deep pockets mag-susuffer. Nakahanap sila ng palusot na isara buong islang for 1 year. Talk about hidden motives indeed.
