Callamard: PH gov't 'officially informed of my visit'

United Nations Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard has denied the claim of Palace spokesman Ernesto Abella that the Philippine government was not informed of her trip beforehand.

"I reject the statement issued today by the spokesperson’s office of President Rodrigo Duterte stating that the Philippine Government had not been informed in advance of my trip to the country," Callamard said in statement on Friday, May 5.
    Sunog nanaman si Abella.

This is truly a regime of impunity.

    PWEH.

Lopez willing to be Duterte’s aide to pursue mining crackdown | Inquirer News

President Duterte should “man-up” and put himself where his mouth has. Lopez is ready to take a technical demotion for a strategic position.
The question is: Is the President up to the challenge and is he going to walk his talk?

    Doubt it.

When he said "Lobby Money Talks" I think he was referring to himself, kaya nilaglag si Lopez.

    Ouch....truth hurts.

"President Duterte was the mayor of Davao. He said he cleaned up Davao, and yet there were 9,000 people who surrendered from Davao when the campaign started," Tanguay said.

"How can he expect to clean up the whole country if in 27 years? He wasn't even successful in cleaning up his own city," he said.

    This could be us......scary indeed.

Long-mounting rage against Mr. Maduro’s government exploded this past week when he called for a new Constitution, widely seen as the latest in a series of a power grabs. Demonstrators have overwhelmed city streets, so far undeterred by a police crackdown in which hundreds have been arrested and dozens killed.

The violence deepens a months long crisis marked by food shortages, economic collapse and Mr. Maduro’s fumbling attempts to consolidate authority. In quasi-democratic systems like Venezuela’s, such pressures have often led elites to force a change, and have provided them an excuse to do so.

I remember i had a discussion with a group of friends (anti and pro du30)

    They're mostly business people

I cited venezuela as an example of populism gone wrong

Populist leaders will blame businesses when there are food shortages (hoarding daw)

But it's the government's fault in the first place

In response to high inflation the govt imposes price controls

So businesses stop importing coz they'll be losing money

    Which results in shortages

The govt then goes after businessmen to appease the masses

But that doesn't solve the shortage problem

    I told them du30 is a populist

His populist policies (end contractualization, tax exemptions for low income earners, raising taxes elswhere, etc) could cause high inflation

So in reaction, the govt will act like any populist govt -- impose price controls

Which will cause shortages and even higher inflation (and of course widespread anger among the masses)

The govt will then go after businessmen to appease the masses

My friends just stared at me

    Reality check

"The decision of the Court of Appeals encapsulates the Latin maxim fiat justitia ruat caelum. Let justice be done though the heavens fall," Calida said. "I commend the magistrates of the 12th Division of the Court of Appeals for doing what is right based on the evidence before them."

Dito nga sa Pangasinan na tigil ng ilang araw ang jueteng dito then pinalitan ng STL. Out na si Atong Ang and in si peluka ayon sa kwento ng mga kubrador.
