There were a lot of statements in Matobato's testimony which had holes or comes across as unbelievable like the supposed killing of an NBI agent by 30 people who were simultaneously firing (pero buhay pa and had to be finished off by Digong by expending 2 mags of his Uzi).

IMHO, this could me the reason why he was discharged from the WPP because his testimony is simply unreliable. If I were in Cayetano's seat, I would have asked if the real reason he left the WPP is because Digong became the President or if the DOJ had him discharged for some other reason.

Instead, Cayetano focused on Plan B and insisted on the witness being exposed to political news and gossip.

It would have been more believable or credible of De Lima's committee to just bring forward a witness who can testify as to the present EJK and not those which occurred more than a decade ago.

If this was a coached witness, then they botched the job up pretty bad. The hesitancy in answering questions would leave one to think that he is trying to come up with an explanation rather than knowing the answer and just refusing to give it due to grave reasons like personal security, public interest, etc.

The testimony is a mixture of outlandish claims, conspiracy theories and info that sounds possibly true.

"You are out of order. May we request the sergeant-at-arms to try to restrain Senator Alan Peter Cayetano?” De Lima said.
Cayetano’s microphone was then turned off after he was declared out of order.

Before that, Cayetano told De Lima to “vet the credibility of witness” Edgar Matobato, who confessed being a member of the infamous Davao Death Squad.

Although not a member of the committee, Cayetano, a close ally of President Rodrigo Duterte, had been given the chance to speak and question the witness for more than an hour.

Matobato tagged President Duterte in numerous alleged killings in Davao City.

Before that, a heated exchange transpired between Cayetano and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, which started when Trillanes said Cayetano has been consuming the other members' time with his "unli-questioning" on Matobato even though he is a non-member.

"We have given him more than an hour of leeway, for a non-member that’s a luxury," Trillanes said, who. "And now as a member, can I assert my right as a member, otherwise I might move to declare Sen Cayetano out of order for consuming the time of the committee of which he is not a member."
