In the end, re-routing simply temporarily displaces congestion, but once people get used to the new normal, the volume increases to fill whatever void has been opened up.

We really REALLY need to decongest the city of people, per se.

Yup. Duterte may have made good on his promises, but if it isn't a reciprocal thing, then that's that.

I find it HILARIOUS, though, that he's flip-flopping again on his definition of "criminal"... I recall that he very publicly stated that he didn't consider the Abu Sayyaf criminals... may pinaglalabanan daw... and now he's admitting... FINALLY... that those bandits are what they are... plain and simple criminals.

Try for peace with the organizations with an actual political purpose... but wipe the ASG off the map, please.

Want to know what I find positive?

What I find positive is that the PNP is finally admitting the killings are getting out of hand. They're starting to rotate cops out of their areas to bring fresh blood in, hopefully free of entanglement with local drug syndicates. Sana yan yung unang ginawa (as with the Bilibid move), but better late than never.

I find positive that Digong is starting to make concessions that maybe Yasay won't stay much longer. The man is an embarrassment.

I find positive that Digong is now seeking outside advice about the WPS, and that he even included Aquino, despite their differences.

At least he can suck it up and change his mind. Unlike some of his more rabid followers who think every single thing he does is perfect the first time around.
Pareho lang naman Niky, there are rabid Digong followers, only choosing to see/acknowledge the right things he's doing, while downplaying the bad after effects of his principles and there are the rabid anti Digong people, only choosing to see and notice the negative, or even finding something negative.

Problme is PGong spouses non-due process. Papano na? Yun problem niya eh. Puwede naman iron hand pero within the law pa rin. It's just we need a strong case (due to diligent research and investigation from honest lawmen) and a good procecution team. Kaso matagal yang process na yan kaya as clanker said, patayin na lang at tapunan placard.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) found prima facie evidence against two of three active generals whom President Rodrigo Duterte publicly identified as drug protectors, Secretary Mike Sueno revealed Friday.

All five generals denied Duterte’s allegations of their connection to drugs.

“There was prima facie evidence against the (two generals) so we can now start the trial,” Sueno said in a press briefing at Camp Crame.

Tor, why only two when our President named three active generals? Was he mistaken on the other one or he was just joking?

Magiging narco state tayo. Baka naging PNP chief pa yung isang narco general.

At least two former high-ranking officials from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and officials from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) allegedly received millions from some high-profile inmates in exchange for special treatment, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said Friday.

Aguirre also revealed that aside from government officials, a religious group is serving as conduit of illegal drugs and prostitution inside the prison facility.

“Umabot talaga sa DOJ – mataas. I don’t want to name names, but we are going to come up with the results of the investigation. Nakita naman ninyo lahat kung gaano kaluwag ang treatment natin sa high profile inmates. Parang sila ang bida dun, sila talaga ang nagmamando kung ano ang nangyayari dun,” Aguirre said at a press conference Friday.

Drilon, JV file bill granting emergency powers to Duterte to solve traffic crisis

Drilon, JV file bill granting emergency powers to Duterte to solve traffic crisis

MANILA – Senate President Pro-Tempore Franklin Drilon and Senator JV Ejercito on Wednesday filed separate bills granting emergency powers to President Rodrigo Duterte to solve the perennial traffic problem in Metro Manila and other urban areas.

In his bill, Drilon urged Congress to strive for stronger safeguards that will prevent corruption and protect the government from entering into onerous and disadvantageous contracts at the expense of the Filipino people.

Drilon’s bill, Senate Bill No. 11 or the Transportation Crisis Act of 2016, seeks to grant President Rodrigo Duterte emergency powers in dealing with the alarming transportation crisis within Metro Manila and other urban areas.

Drilon said that while he fully supports the passage of the bill, “it is also of the highest importance that the bill will provide safeguards that can adequately protect the system and the people from abuses."

Drilon said the Congress should take a careful look at previous experiences, citing, for instance, the country’s experience when Congress enacted the Electric Power Crisis Act of 1993.

“We must learn from the experiences with the Electric Power Crisis Act of 1993, which was crafted to address the power crisis, but, in the end, resulted in the execution of onerous contracts with independent power producers that led to expensive and higher electricity rates,” Drilon said.
    Kala ko slighlty naimprove hehehe

Yeah its the most challenging job for pdiggy..

Tor, is it not an insult to our President that two days after he declared a unilateral ceasefire with the reds, the latter ambushed government troopers in Kapalong, Davao Del Norte?

Senator Lacson is right after all:

this is why some of us want federal type of government. to keep it manageable. obviously, a president can't micromanage a population of 100 million.

sure, it isn't perfect but it's better to have either a hit or miss at the local level than a hit or miss at the national level.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

Duterte wants to scrap party-list system

    July 30, 2016 02:29am

DAVAO CITY, Philippines---President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said he wanted the party-list system stricken out of the Constitution.

"It will never come again," Mr. Duterte said, speaking about amending the 1987 Constitution after visiting militiament wounded in an ambush by communist rebels in Kapalong, Davao del Norte province, on Wednesday.

"With a new Constitution, I will insist: no party-list," he said.

Mr. Duterte said party-lists "abused" the system, with the rich organizing groups of their own.

"Representing what, security guards?" he said. "That's a mockery of the law."

The President said he would make sure changes to the Constitution would be responsive to the will of the people.

"I will not allow a Constitution that is anti-Filipino," Mr. Duterte said.

Mr. Duterte said his administration decided to amend the Constitution through a constituent assembly (Con-ass) because a constitutional convention (Con-con) would be costly.

The President sought to ease public fears that lawmakers serving in the constituent assembly would serve their own interests.

"I will be there," he said. "When worse comes to worst, they (the lawmakers) know what will happen," Mr. Duterte said.

He said a Con-ass could only come up with a Constitution that is responsive to the will of the people.

"And I will be there to read what you have worked on," he said. TVJ

3 months for a passport appointment? Here’s why

MALVAR, BATANGAS—Ever wonder why it takes two to three months to schedule a passport application appointment online?

APO Production Unit Inc., the government-owned printing facility, has foiled a lucrative scam of fixers who has reserved up to 450 slots for passport applicants which they sell at P5,000 each for those in desperate need of travel documents.

APO Production sales manager Dominic Tajon said these fixers, who are believed to be backed by syndicates, earn as much as P2.5 million by blocking passport application slots.

The rates for the reserved online passport schedule start at P5,000 and can go higher depending on the applicants’ preferred date of application or renewal of their passports, he said.

“The days of fixers are numbered because the Department of Foreign Affairs has allowed APO Production to handle the end-to-end passport processing in the next two months,” said Tajon in an interview with the diplomatic press corps on Thursday.

He said the public can expect ease in getting online appointment by September, when applicants under the old system would have been accommodated.

Tajon said the scam has been uncovered by information technology experts while installing the new security feature in the DFA’s online passport application on June 17.
