I dread the day that we all completely forget about the struggles of our forefathers; from World War II to Martial Law.

I think nobody wants war (not us, not the Chinese). But for a leader of a nation to adopt a defeatist attitude and categorically say "Fighter jest are good only for ceremonial flybys. I'm not in favor of building up external defense, I will not go to war with China,", "sorry,.. I will not go to war because of the Scarborough Shoal lang." and " dun na lang kayo mangisda sa Sulu at Tawi-tawi, fish are dying of boredom there.". Its like telling your child who has a bullying problem to simply move to another school because they can't stand up to them anyway.

If It happens? hiding under the bed is not a good idea.
Anyway we're not going to war against China or start a war against them at least that's for sure, but what if China will?
Huānyíng fēilǜbīn "google translate" Welcome to the Philippines.
The point is whether internal or international we need to upgrade at least our defence forces little by little masyadong short term ang vision ni upcoming President at Mocha Uson, FA-50 jets just a waste of money? And you can only use these for ceremonial fly-by? are we seriously agree about these belief?

    accroding to him,
Anak ng jueteng, according to the intelligence, there are 300 MIGs (fighter jets) there, which can reach Manila in six minutes,” Duterte said.
So how fast can the FA-50 jets to hunt down Abu sayyaf bandits? hindi ba naisip ng intelligence yan?

Duterte tells officials: Avoid vested interests

Duterte said even during the elections, he turned down offers from people with vested interests. He said it was “difficult to be tied up” usually during the vote.
Eto ang gusto ko kay digong. Ang hilig mag patawa.

In the event of a shooting war or even an incident where bullets or missiles are exchanged, your ally will not come to your defense if you don't do it for yourself.

Building up a credible air and maritime defense capability has always been to show that first, you are willing and able to defend your territory and second, we are going to be at the forefront with our allies if they come to our aid in defending our territory.

Otherwise, why oh why will they waste the lives of their men and their ships and airplanes if we'll just show our belly each time China encroaches on our territory?

    Bye bye check-and-balance.

    Welcome back, ZTE-like deals

The senator said under the emergency powers being worked out, bidding for maintenance contracts, procurement of coaches, railway tracks and signalling systems, among others, related to the LRT and MRT operations would be done away with.

“The restrictions in bidding rules, amounting to a time limited confiscation of private property by forcing the private owner to allow for public use and overriding ordinances so that you can now standardize the traffic rules,” the senator said.

“For this limited time, when you can’t function properly following regular rules, we have to exempt ourselves from some of the rules and then some power that you don’t have to order the opening of certain roads would be given to you… Order the opening of private roads in subdivisions. That’s emergency powers,” Pimento, who is also a lawyer, explained.

CREDIBLE is the key word here. We don't expect the sun and the moon and the stars but we expect to give the men and women who stake their lives for our country, the proper equipment and training when they go into harms way.

I remember a excerpt from one of my favorite books, to paraphrase: "fair play means all my men get home alive".

He keeps saying the jets are useless to fight the insurgency... but why then is he talking peace with the NPA and the MILF?

Good luck. What makes them think that they can keep those private subdivision roads open AFTER the end of emergency power?

The courts have time and again sided with private property owners... the government cannot force them to open their gates to the public.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    +100....

I have a high school friend. 5ft 3in, skinny kid.

Hindi ba pwede show of resolve lang muna?

That's why it's called "budgeting", and allotting all for one resource is contrary to that.

That's precisely the reason why the outgoing government went hard at strengthening the bottomline of the country by improving tax collection, decreasing losses to corruption and revisiting so many contracts and projects to the point that it has slowed down development, so that we have a better bottomline to start budgeting more for all other things that our country desires, yes including benefits for our soldiers. What good is all those benefits to them and their families if they get killed outright fighting insurgencies on land and on the sea (we're not even talking about China)?

Widodo sails to South China Sea on warship Widodo sails to South China Sea on warship | Inquirer Global Nation

    Flashback Firday
"Pupunta ako sa China, pag-ayaw nila, then I will ask the Navy to bring to the nearest boundary dyan sa Spratly, Scarborough. Then I would say, This is ours and do what you want with me. Bahala na kayo. I would stake that claim. If they want, you know, Eh matagal ko nang ambisyon yan na maging hero din ako.
