Thank you for the last sentence. But you think I'm a Duterte supporter like Walter?

I'm embarrassed if members here think that I am.

I'm one of the early RoRo supporters here and still believe that Mar was the least disastrous candidate.

But since Duterte won, I'm trying to be objective but critical.

I still think tho that our county is about to go off a cliff as early as next year.

On a related note, isn't this a conflict of interest? Everyone knows the real estate interest of the Villars and having a hand in the DPWH will work to their advantage. I was hoping he could retain Singson as DPWH Sec as i think the man was doing a commendable job overall.

This one really saddens me. Singson really cleaned up DPWH. Then to put a Villar there? Happy days for crocs are here again.

    Also chuckling...

    Friend to the leftists, but:

    Visaya - Hacienda Luisita commander.

Gibo - Arroyo appointee, now executive at a mining corporation.

    And now:

Duterte's Cabinet recipe is either completely mad or divinely inspired. Keep your friends close, keep your enemies in the Cabinet?

    -

    anonemous

Indeed... good times are here again. Note the MRT people now talking about coming back.

You could see this coming years ago... so many crocs and crooked contractors putting up their feet and declaring business closed... we can't get our kickbacks out of this administration, let's wait for the next one.

Now they're all salivating at the prospect of "business as usual"

If Digong is serious about cleaning house, he CANNOT let this happen.

Still waiting to see if these are all final and if Duterte will eventually change his mind.

Youtube through computer speakers sucks at conveying how obnoxiously loud a Harley is. You have obviously not heard one at full blat. The deep baritone, indeed, is somewhat more pleasant than a tinny scooter, but it is very, very, VERY LOUD. Some stock Harleys can exceed 100 decibels. Have one blasting past your business and all talk stops for the minute or two it takes to pass by.

Think scav-equipped Honda Civic... trolling through a parking lot setting all the alarms off. That's what we're talking about.

    -

The problem talaga with sound emissions enforcement is that our government has no concrete sound level protocols. Simply enforce sound and exhaust emissions laws properly, and people should be able to drive whatever they like.

Even Harleys... after putting some extra muffling on them.

    -

Mura lang and decibel meter. Equipping the police / LTO with enough to serve the entire country won't be cheap, but charges for sound testing and sound emissions violations can offset the cost and perhaps even pay for the testers within just a year.

There are bashers, but the rest of us have no "manoks" in this election. We're just giving our opinions based on what we see.

If all you ever read is praise of Digong, then you aren't learning much about him. Honest critiques anbd open discussion are NECESSARY to ensure that democracy works. Otherwise we'll end up with another Marcos... everyone kissing his derriere and everyone against him sent to the gulag... and whatever good intentions the leader has leading down the road of unintended consequences and eventual disaster.

Many people forget: The Philippine economy crashed through the floor YEARS before the EDSA revolution.

I am still willing to give Digong a chance. But I am an eternal optimist. Other people here will not be so kind. But whether they love Digong or hate him, pay attention to what they're saying. A lot of very intelligent people around here with very accurate observations about this up-and-coming government.

I knew you were an eternal optimist the moment I saw your car was a Ford Lynx.

Kidding aside, I am trying to be hopeful and supportive to the new President but so far there are people around him, together with the names being floated, that are ringing the alarm bells within me. Is it an unorthodox approach with some greater good in mind? Or just a rehash? I guess that's what a lot are trying to discern now.

Even some of the Duterte supporters on my social media feed have become increasingly quiet these past few days. One has already voiced out... concern.

Is that Mark Villar appointment the x-deal for the NP - PDP-Laban alliance?

Too much conflict of interest here. Sana si Sec. Singson na lang ulit [though merong reports he wants to go back to the private sector].

You can’t just sell the yacht, Duterte told | Inquirer News

PRESUMPTIVE President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s plan to sell the presidential yacht—the BRP Ang Pangulo—will have to follow the process for disposing of government and military assets.

“The disposal of assets is a very defined procedure. This is in due regard of the value of the asset that is being utilized, and the amount of money that can be taken out of it for other purposes,”

There are cases of good men in government who don't really like it there, and would always move out and return to the private sector as soon as they can.

Whatever the result of Digong's presidency, good or bad, we deserve it. Be it for supporting him or not doing enough to defeat him in the elections.

It seems majority of his supporters drank the campaign's whole I am the messiah kool aid without actually getting to know the guy and his stand on government policies. I wonder how he plans on "Leaving macroeconomic policies unchanged" while having commie appointees in his cabinet. Guy says "I really hate criminals" but is a self admitted ally of the family of the biggest crook in Philippine history. Claims "I love my country" but seems to have given up on contested (for him now China's) islands saying he won't abide by international tribunal's decision and prefers bilateral talks. Ever had a one on one with a guy with a bigger gun? How did that work out for you? No? How about territory for trains then? Not all of his ideas are questionable, I even like some of them. And his simple way of living is commendable, I don't know if any other president could do that. There are just so many questionable (to put it mildly) ideas they are floating around major issues that are so concerning. I wonder if his supporters know jack sh#t about any of these.

Can't blame the masses for falling for his rock star level popularity but I am really disappointed in the smart(er) supporters. I hope the next election (kung magkakaroon pa) will be about where candidates' stand on issues rather than personalities.

i would say we as a nation is slowly maturing in terms of the electoral process. In the last election, there are some good and some bad developments.

Most notable would be the debates. I think this is the first time that all the candidates have joined debates of that sort. The pressure (from Social Media) is great for the to really show up. And issues were discussed in the open.

Hopefully, in the next one voters will be more discerning.

    except this is the internet...

any form of criticism automatically makes one an idiot

heck, I'll give a fearless forecast of how some people here will respond to Duterte's SONA

if the economy shows positive growth, people will attribute it to previous administration and/or external factors such as regional trends in the emerging markets

on the other hand, if the economy goes negative because of an upcoming global financial crisis, people will blame Digong and the voters
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

honestly, you could say the same for the previous presidents that some of their policies are very questionable

but heck, sometimes you need to think outside the X-box

extraordinarily shitty circumstances may require extraordinary thinking to reverse it

I've already voiced my opposition to Duterte a year ago

    but

what's my single vote and opinion worth, anyway? none of course(hence why I didn't vote)

    so... what's done is done

Duterte may go in a blaze of glory in history as a great statesman

    or

he might lead the country to ruin

but, either of those outcomes is a good thing

if he turns out to be a massive flop, people will learn the hard way why it's not good to grant people more power and authority

people will also learn that trading liberty for security will end up losing both

people who used to support DAP now have a reason to oppose it

people who used to say "intention trumps constitution" now have to rethink their statement

but that's just me being unusually optimistic
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
