Philippines says Marshall islands-registered vessel may have been involved in sea collision
An oil tanker registered under the flag of the Marshall Islands was suspected to have been involved in an 'accidental collision' with a Philippine boat in the South China Sea that killed three fishermen, the Philippine coast guard said on Wednesday.
Philippine coast guard spokesperson Armando Balilo said that the incident was under investigation but that coast guard monitoring pointed to the Pacific Anna, registered under the flag of Marshall Islands, as the likely vessel that collided with the fishing boat.
The coast guard said in a statement the Philippine boat "failed to detect" the approaching foreign vessel because of poor weather, resulting in a collision that caused the boat to capsize. Among those who died was the captain.
The coast guard said it would contact the Pacific Anna, which according to Eikon data is on its way to Singapore.
The coast guard's Balilo said the Pacific Anna's owner has yet to be determined.![]()

A combination of Sentinel and Landsat satellite images reveals that a Chinese warship seemingly shadowed the Ronald Reagan CSG on Oct 20, while it was operating near Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea.
Spratly and Paracel Islands | Great Japanese Empire Wiki | Fandom
Japan effectively occupied the islets even when the PH was a colony of the USA.On April 4, 1939, Japan invaded the Spratly Islands and placed them under Formosan administration.[1] The Paracel Islands would fall under Japanese control somewhat later,[2][3] though before the outbreak of World War II.[4] The islands were collectively annexed to Japan's Takao Prefecture in 1941.[5] Subsequent to their occupation by successive Allied forces in 1946, Japan renounced its claims to the islands in 1951 via the Treaty of San Francisco.[6]
Formosa and all surrendered islets were supposed to go to China under the San Francisco Treaty that ended War in the Pacific Theater.
But the USA failed to deliver when the Pro-US KMT lost the civil war to the Commies and fled to Formosa.
