Bulaga! Vic Sotto considering running in 2013 polls | GMA News Online | The Go-To Site for Filipinos Everywhere

Bulaga! After Senate majority leader Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, another member of the Sotto clan may jump over from the show business to the political arena.

On Sunday, Senate majority leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said his brother Marvic “Vic” Sotto had been “discussing possibilities” of joining politics in 2013.

“Pinag-uusapan pa, kwentu-kwentuhan lang... discussing possibilities," Sen. Sotto said in an interview on dzBB radio.

He said Vic has yet to make a final decision on whether to run at all, and what post to pursue.

When asked if Vic is gunning for a national or local position, Sen. Sotto said, “pinag-uusapan din (that is also a subject of discussion).”

Although the Sotto brothers are prominent in the entertainment industry, they are grandnephews of former Sen. Filemon Sotto, and grandsons of Sen. Vicente Sotto.

Incumbent Sen. Tito Sotto had been in public service since 1988 when he won the vice mayoralty race in Quezon City, and first served as senator in 1992.

On the other hand, Vic has been very visible on television commercials, aside from his regular television shows that include the popular noontime show “Eat Bulaga!”

Vic is also known for the "Enteng Kabisote" movie franchise, which had been a killer at the box office. — LBG, GMA News

Kaso lang, with what's going on, baka ayaw na rin tayo kunin ng China. Sakit daw tayo masyado sa ulo at baka lumipat pa yung mga showbiz politiko at mga squatters sa mainland.

What's it with all these showbiz personalities? Hindi ba sila kuntento sa buhay artista nila??? Gad.

If they want to serve the public, i think there are better ways or options rather than running for political office. And what's it with people thinking they have qualifications based on their families being prominent political figures before?

I respect Bossing Vic as an actor and showbiz personality, sana hindi naman mawala dahil sa pag-pulitiko.

Isn't Vic running for mayor of QC? Change is better than another term of Bistek. Anyone notice any change in QC in the past years under Bistek?

Belmonte's crowning project was supposed to be the now-dead-in-the-water QC Central Business District. Bistek has been twiddling his thumb on this. Many are saying he's also a absentee mayor most of the time. Hope the rumour is true that the old man Belmonte will run for mayor again and her daughter take his place at congress.

Gaa... just got back from lunch and it seems SB will use up all his terms in congress nga since Mar Roxas did not call dibs on the Speakership. But his choice for mayor will still have a heavy bearing on who'll win it seems. Bistek? Vic? Or will he promote his daughter?

Someone better lock Willie Menyek away and throw away the key before he gets any ideas.

^ Hope Willie Menyek doesnt get any more stupid, deluded ideas to run for office as well. Tiyak sa QC rin yan tatakbo siguro.

Mas okay pa sa akin yung tumakbo dati yung isan anak ni Lucio Tan for congress (natalo ni Bingbong Crisologo) rather than these artistas.

Sikat pala si Bistek pag summer... "libreng tule" para sa lahat.

    eto....nag-deny na ang kumag.

Tito Sotto denies Vic has plans to run in 2013

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III denied reports saying his younger brother, comedian Vic Sotto, is planning to run for public office in 2013.

    Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III
Earlier reports circulated saying Vic is vying for a post in the Senate or become the next mayor of Quezon City.

While he revealed that there have been times when they would talk about politics, the senator said that at the moment, his bother “doesn’t see any need for it.”

“Sa ngayon, although paminsan-minsan ay napapag-usapan namin sa kuwentuhan, wala siyang plano at wala kaming plano,” Senator Sotto said.

ABS-CBN News also tried to get the reaction of incumbent Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, who will possibly be Vic’s opponent in the upcoming elections.

“I don’t think he’ll do that. Bossing, huwag naman. Narinig ko si Sen. Sotto na ‘One Sotto is enough in politics’ eh,” he said.
