How can Miriam be the best choice when we all know her tantrums as you mentioned. Hindi na mawawala yan!

A leader with a vision is better than a leader without a plan at all. She knows what words she utters and she can surely back it up. There is no actually best choice - lahat naman may flaw... more of the lesser evil lang. I'd rather have her lead the country than any other bet you know who's corrupt to the bones... Of all the senators, everyone acknowledges that only Mirriam does her job so well.. even JPE was looking for her presence during the Cyber Crime Law passage, si Mirriam daw kasi ang Constitutionalist ng Senado... yun nga lang may tantrums sya nung araw na yun, she retaliated, boycotting the inquiry of those na hindi umattend sa inquiry nya..

Tsssssss, pabida lang yan sa tao. Tignan niyo ang US, sa dami ng population nila pero 538 lang ang pwede bumoto at kapag naka-270 ka panalo ka na as president. The problem here is we are obsessed sa elections. Mapapansin niyo na lang na sobrang dami tumatakbo as gov't official. Nasobrahan sa democracy.

Sir, lahat ho ng qualified voters sa America (as of 2010; 235 Million+) pwedeng bumoto. In the last Presidential elections, at least 125 Million American cast their votes for their preferred candidate. The 538 refers to the total ELECTORAL COLLEGE votes, this is a system unique to the US where States are assigned a specific number of Electoral Votes and a candidate who garners the most number of Electoral votes wins. Thus, a President may even have more total votes and be more popular nationwide but still lose to another candidate who gets less votes but wins in the States who are assigned more Electoral Votes.

This actually happened in the case of Gore vs. GW Bush, where Gore had more total votes nationwide and was the more popular choice (50,999,897 vs. 50,456,002) but lost the Presidency when Bush got 271 and Gore got only 266 electoral college votes. In the last elections, Obama got more popular votes nationwide and at the same time also garnered more electoral college votes than Romney.

Sa Pinas, ginagawang family business ang politics. Interesting read on political dynasties: All in the family | Opinion, News, The Philippine Star | philstar.com

The sooner a law on political dynasties is passed, the better for this country. If Brenda's version gets passed, we can say good-bye to one or more of the Cayetanos, Villars, Binays, Ejercito-Estradas, Revillas, etc. etc.:

Senator Miriam Santiago, who filed SB 2649 or the Anti-Political Dynasty Act, defines it more thoroughly with these caveats: Political Dynasty “shall exist when a person who is the spouse of an incumbent elective official or relative within the second civil degree of consanguinity or affinity of an incumbent elective official holds or runs for an elective office simultaneously with the incumbent elective official within the same province or occupies the same office immediately after the term of office of the incumbent official.”

“It shall also be deemed to exist where two or more persons who are spouses or are related within the second civil degree of consanguinity or affinity run simultaneously for elective public office within the same province, even if neither is so related to an elective official.”

Sadly, the odds for the bill’s approval are slim to nil. But hats off to the feisty Senator for bucking the family businesses!

May petition to reconsider her appointment as International Criminal Court pala... tsk, didn't knew she has unexplainable acts din pala. Who will save Pinas now?

“We have taken the liberty of writing to you on behalf of concerned Filipino organizations and individuals in the Philippines and overseas who subscribe to and actively advocate the goal of competent, honest and progressive governance of our homeland, the Philippines.

“We are respectfully bringing to your attention a serious matter that affects the image and reputation of the Philippines and, potentially, the image and reputation of the International Criminal Court.

“In addition to mastery of international jurisprudence and forensic skills, we assume that you also require a sound mind, emotional and psychological stability, unsullied integrity and incorruptibility, as well as patience, civility and impeccable decorum.

“We submit that a person who is emotionally or psychologically unstable, prone to fits of uncontrollable rage, lacking in patience and empathy, ruthless with the feelings of fellow human beings, bereft of civility and uncaring about decorum does not deserve a place in your honorable court.

“We further submit that an individual who has admitted to having publicly lied and who has demonstrated partiality, prejudice, lack of principles and questionable integrity as a public official does not deserve to be a judge, much less a judge of the International Criminal Court.

“In this regard, we regret to inform you that such an undeserving individual has been elected to the International Criminal Court, in a lapse of good judgment on the part of the government of the Republic of the Philippines.

“We are referring to Miriam Defensor-Santiago, a member of the Philippine Senate, who has been elected to the International Criminal Court and is shortly scheduled to take her oath of office.
    Miriam

As for political dynasty Sa akin ok Lang one after the other in a single position pero hinde pwede holding several position simultaneously.

Kaya Wala Ako bilib diyan Sa mga cayetano, Lalo na Si pia nagmamalinis pero dynasty naman sila kaya kahit gusto ko RHbill but sincd siya Ang proponent nabwibwisit Lang Ako...plastic eh...daldal Sa media about RH bill pero tahimik pag dating Sa anti dynasty bill dahil affected siya.

I'm betting she'll run as taguig mayor Sa 2016 papalitsn niya sis in law niya dahil Nakabili na siya ng condo Sa BGC naghahanda na para Sa residency..
