    1. Their (US) economy is still trying to recover following the financial crisis and having to fund two wars in the Middle East care of the previous administration.

    2. There are a lot of US business interests in China ranging from manufacturing to services. You can bet the lobbyists in the US Congress will browbeat their representatives to not fund another war which can result in the destruction of their businesses.

    3. There will likely be little support from the UN for another US-led war, even if it is to aid a key ally in Asia. Even UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon (who is Korean) has said that diplomacy should be used in resolving the row between the 2 Koreas.

    4. The US armed forces have been stretched to their limit in the Middle East. The only thing they can count on now to support S. Korea in the event of a shooting war would be their carrier battlegroup in Asia. That limits the theater of war operations to the sea and to a certain extent, a small portion of airspace. Not good considering the number of warplanes China can throw at them.

I agree.... NKOR may have WMD but in doing so, they are painting their foreheads with targets for the bigger boys in the league.... Ugali pa naman ng US ang makialam.... mahilig pa sa gulo ang US....

I wouldn't say that given their capacity to build "unlicensed" J-11's and getting away from Sukhoi that easily...

well, they did it of course with the cunning use of changing the body panels trick
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

No it was not an accident. A fact finding team from Japan, US,and SK found that it was a NK torpedo that sank it and killed more than 40+ SK sailors. Nagtimpi lang ang SK with the prodding of the US because they know that Kim Jong Il is unpredictable and dangerous (NK has strongly denied this but the evidence was overwhelming)

But the war of words is heating up. A US warship is headed to the Yellow sea in the guise of a joining a long delayed SK-US war exercises. So, let's just wait what NK has to say, and do. But I still believe that both sides will eventually back down. One ill-advised move will be suicide for both countries.

Ayaw ng SK na mabalik sa stone age.

i know it was not an accident, i only said it can be labeled and dismissed as one. they are still technically at war and that warship was a purely military target. and as i said before, this one is more serious because the attack was on SKs territory itself with civilian casualties and destruction of infra. this is the reason why mas galit din ang mga south koreans this time around.

haayz, even up to now, normal people think that civilizations like Nokor and Iran can wreck havoc sa mundo.

newsflash, it's who you know not what you know - yan ang key to succeed. sa gobyerno, sa corporate even sa school activities.

eh kung solo plight, isolated, loner, tignan nyo nga san napupunta mga ganito? WALA! history shows na nga how the USSR collapsed kasi nga by the turn of the 90's eh konting-konti na lang prends nya

the reason why Nokor and Iran are allowed to exist is bec. they provide an illusion of an enemy. the Democratic/Capitalistic world needs an enemy in order for it to struggle and to face challenges at hindi laging takot, comfort zone , be safe, peace as what the homo***ual media men convey

if you ask me, the main purpose of Nokor and Iran eh para sa Financial Markets. yun lang yun.

the superpower nations have a satellite network even in space. don't you think by now, hindi pa nila na-detect kung sino - sino may signature ng plutonium/radiation sa lupa.

tingen ko nga disadvantage ang may nuke eh, if ever may naging adventurist sa mga 'to, they can detonate the nukes from their silos

The PLA played a role in the Korean War. I guess making Uncle Sam retreat from the Yalu river all the way to the 38th parallel is battle tested proof.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korea_W...cember_1950.29

After decimating the ROK II Corps at the Battle of Onjong, the first confrontation between Chinese and US military occurred on 1 November 1950; deep in North Korea, thousands of soldiers from the PVA 39th Army encircled and attacked the US 8th Cavalry Regiment with three-prong assaults—from the north, northwest, and west—and overran the defensive position flanks in the Battle of Unsan.[100] The surprise assault forced the UN forces to retreat back to the Ch'ongch'on River, while the Chinese unexpectedly disappeared in their mountain hideouts following their victory.

On 25 November at the Korean western front, the PVA 13th Army Group attacked and over-ran the ROK II Corps at the Battle of the Ch'ongch'on River, and then decimated the US 2nd Infantry Division on the UN forces' right flank.[38]:98–9 The UN Command retreated; the US Eighth Army's retreat (the longest in US Army history)[101] was made possible because of the Turkish Brigade's successful, but very costly, rear-guard delaying action near Kunuri that slowed the PVA attack for two days (27–9 November). On 27 November at the Korean eastern front, a US 7th Infantry Division Regimental Combat Team (3,000 soldiers) and the US 1st Marine Division (12,000–15,000 marines) were unprepared for the PVA 9th Army Group's three-pronged encirclement tactics at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir, but they managed to escape under X Corps support fire—albeit with some 15,000 collective casualties.[102]

By 30 November, the PVA 13th Army Group managed to expel the US Eighth Army from northwest Korea. Retreating from the north faster than they had counter-invaded, the Eighth Army crossed the 38th parallel border in mid December.[103]: 160 The UN morale hit rock bottom when commanding General Walton Walker of the US Eighth Army was killed on 23 December 1950 in an automobile accident.[38]:111 At northeast Korea by 11 December, the US X Corps managed to cripple[104] the PVA 9th Army Group while establishing a defensive perimeter at the port city of Hungnam. They were forced to evacuate by 24 December in order to reinforce the badly depleted US Eighth Army to the south.[38]:104–11[103]:158

The 2 Koreas are still technically at war, the treaty signed in 1953 calling for a ceasefire did not really put an end to the conflict.

This is a very serious situation. North Korea has nuclear capabilities, the south will have US as an ally also a nuclear power and you have China as the ally of the north also a nuclear power. It will be the Korean War all over again unless they come up with a resolution that will replace the one in 1953, the only difference this time is that it would involve nuclear weapons.

The Taiwan strait is also a potential flash point, well if some say that the Chinese are after quantity and not quality of arms and weapons think about this: Granted they are substandard missles but there are so many at their disposal, a hundred of them might equate to 10 that could be enough to generate devastating consequences.

    +1

Maraming context ang superpower. China, for one, may be an economic superpower but not yet a military superpower unlike Russia for instance, who on the other side has its economy on a down since Soviet collapse.

But still, Russia is more dreadful than China war-wise since it has superpower military abilities, not to mention nukes.

If the Korean War breaks again, pwede tayong madamay.

Isang plutonium bomb lang sa Metro Manila, may paglalagyan tayo.

    Wag naman sana.

Anyway, so much for the paranoia.

China dapat mag isip dito, instead of backing up a useless ideological partner, why not a useful economic partner (SOKOR).

yana ng sinasabi ko, sawsaw nanaman ang Pilipinas/Filipino...anong damay nanaman tayo?

why does Filipino has the penchant na idamay ang sarili sa lahat ng nangyayari sa mundo?
