Roxas is LP?s ?2nd-best? choice, Aquino still No. 1?Erice | Inquirer News
But he admitted that the proposal being floated to amend the Constitution in order to remove the ban on presidential reelection has not gained any traction.
“I just floated the idea. If the people do not approve of it, then I will submit,” Erice said.

Solidly not in favor of lifting term limits, especially for President.
BSA should learn from his mother's example. If anything, term limits should be made stricter so that even congressmen, senators, governors, mayors, etc. can only serve one term --- AND THEN PERPETUAL DISQUALIFICATION from public office.
This way, if they are corrupt, they can be kicked out of office as soon as the next election comes along and they can be prosecuted accordingly without having that vicious cycle of just waiting for the next election to get back in power to avoid jail.

August 14th, 2014 07:07 PM #95Quite ironic that Ninoy and Cory fought the dictatorship of Marcos not knowing that their only son Pnoy has a bit of Marcos in him.

His plan to control SC backfired and now he wants to clip the powers of SC.

Ganun din nangyari kay GMA nung nagpalit ng isip sa pagtakbo nun 2004. Sa tingin ng yellow army walang sagot sila sa kakampi ni Erap na si FPJ... Pero everyone now knows how far and dirty GMA went to keep herself in power, and how quickly the yellow army dumped her like a hot potato. Ganun ka-desperate ulit yung yellow army to hold on to power and keep Eraps "bet" out of Malacanang.

IMHO, the power of judicial review by the SC over the acts of the President and Congress is very much part of the system of checks and balances enshrined in our Constitution. Even if you removed term limits via constitutional amendment or revision, it does not remove the power of the SC to strike down what it deems to be unconstitutional acts done by the executive or legislative branches of government.
Perpetuating oneself and your allies will not serve to weaken the power of the Courts. Sure, you can outlast the sitting justices in power, but you can't outlast the institution because any unconstitutional acts will surely and eventually be overturned.
