a friend of mine is hunting for a van, good for 7 members, bihira lang gamitin mostly with in the area specifically las pinas area, bihira lang mag out of town.
consider nila vanette grand coach gas daw kasi at less maintenance, starex 99 model turbo intercooler at carnival LS. anu ba mas ok? consider reliablity, power, fuel consumption, maintenance at aircon space/comfort! pros and cons and suggestions thanks

so far carnival win their hearts

Used to own a starex 99 RV Turbo Intercooler and I am sure among the 3 choices that it would be the best fit for their needs and much more. Pulling power even A/T (d basta-basta kayang iwanan ng kahit anong kotse, lalo na ibang van ) spaciousness, excellent aircon, good tranny, no fading headlights as per my experience (saw a lot on sedonas and carnival), good brakes and front-engine as well (d vanette is a pain in the butt )

    Hope this helps

My brother just got a KIA Carnival LS for 300K. Diesel, A/T, 7 seats with captains chairs, 2002 model 70K milage. He was lucky because the previous owner just had the A/C 'overhauled' for 20K. Minor paint flaws (stained because it's white) which requires paint cleaning and detailing and perhaps a re-tinting of the windows (original tint from casa). His only complaint is when he steps on the accelerator passing vehicles, black smoke comes out. But I think there's a solution mentioned in the KIA Carnival/Sedona Thread...

sunchoo bakit pain in the butt? matagtag ba o magastos sa lahat ng bagay? para daw kasing ok ang vanette bsta 2000 model ung grand coach daw kasi di na daw nag overheat yun, pero is it true na magastos talaga ang maintenance ng van?

--AFAIK, malakas ang FC ng vanette compared with starex and carnival, plus mas mahal ang parts nito...

power eagle: what i meant by pain in the butt was the uncomfortable seats specially on long drives . The heat coming from the engine bay under the seats probably add to the discomfort. Plus the fact that there is no "hood" up front to speak of is a psychological barrier for me. Drove a lite ace and L300 (gen 10) as well and the feeling i always get is 1 mistake and I'm d___d meat coz I like to drive fast enough always.

My main beef with the kia carnival/sedona is its small turning radius which is a pain in the neck specially when parking and the quick fading headlamp covers.

I just noticed now that the budget is 300K. I guess medyo a little bit kulang yan for now for a '99 Starex RV. I believe it still sells for 350-400+++depending on condition.

I guess ur friend has to actually test drive these 3 choices of his to get a real world feel that will ably aid him to decide intelligently.

    Hope this helps.

VAN for 300K?
