January 26th, 2003 04:10 PM #23I am aware of this trail on Feb 8-9. It could be moved to the next weekend depending on some conditions. It will be overnight and will trail the C-Square mining route that has been carved out of High-Peak mountain. High-Peak is part of the Zambales mountain range and is the highest peak in central Luzon-- over 7,000ft. Pulag is higher but that's northern Luzon. The trail is a bit challenging but stock 4x4s have conquered it.
Phil Geeslin is trail-leading and the bulk of those going will be from the Land Rover Club. If any of you guys/girls know Phil and can get an invitation to join thru him then Land Rover Club approval will be unnecessary. Phil drives a slightly lifted Nissan Frontier running 32-inch MTs.
LRCP members may also coordinate with Robby Consunji. Non-Rover owners will be better off coordinating with Phil.

I found it! (thanks to sir OliveDrab)
Now the question is WHO will join on this trail? I believe it is an overnight trip. It is somewhat, kinda, sorta light trail "daw".
Who ever has been to Hi-Peak, kindly help me out how to describe what trail to look for. :P

Destination: -- Hi-Peak is the 2nd highest mountain of Luzon with an
elevation of approximately 6,000 feet, similar to Baguio City; it is
accessible from Palauig, an hour north of Olongapo City. Distance from
Manila to Hii-Peak is 260Kms. The last 25Kms leading to the Peak is an
abandoned mining trail within the mining concession of C-Square Mining.
Hi-Peak is not open to the general public.
The abandoned mining trail to Hi-Peak consists mostly of buldozered rocks
and hardened soil; generally not steep, but there are a few slopes up to 45
degrees over short distances around 100 meters -- clearly Low 4-Wheel Drive
Diff Lock terrain in a Land Rover Defender. During wet weather conditions,
the trail may require vehicle towing and/or winching.
The Summit of Hi-Peak is consistently dotted with pine trees and wild
strawberry bushes; there are wild deer in the area. The temperature towards
the end of the trail is expected to be from cool to cold, something like 20
degrees C at noon time to almost freezing at night; with fog constantly
passing through. A one hour hike from the end of the Trail leads to the
Summit of Hi-Peak, with panoramic view (if there is no fog) of the South
China Sea, the Zambales coastline, the crater of Mount Pinatubo, and the
plains of Central Luzon.

Papayag ba si KCboy pag overnight?
Madami yata kasing gusto sumama kaso gusto ng 1 day event only. Mahihirapan tayo maghatak ng 1 vehicle from LRCP kung ganun.
We have to talk and decide if people will have to spend a night in Hi-Peak before we decide to push thru.
