Sept. 5, 6, 7 and 8.
2WD (vans, cute utes and AUVs) owners invited.
It's been 5 yrs since we last visited this place. Coming back with a group will be something different. Weather colder, much, much cleaner than Baguio, cheap lodging and food. Lots of places to go to.
Wow this is what Im waiting for...But Im on very tight schedule.. I'll be arriving manila on Sept 5 4PM.... I'll try my best to arrive manila earlier than the said date..
Last time we were there, I didn't even use my 4wd of my gen1. Marami na din concrete roads unlike before. It's a fri, sat, sun and monday. I'll post more details later. Budget?... last 1998 lodging is for 200php/pax/day. I have to ask around. It's like going there the first time again.
I'm posting this for anyone who might want to visit SAGADA, Mountain Province.
TIPS
1. Summer is the best time. Pero if you want to experience
near freezing weather, Jan to Feb. ang OK
2. Go there by AUV or van, yon mataas. Or car (yon malapit mo
nang benta). If you have a 4X4 much
better, 'coz may lake doon na matarik at muddy pag-umulan.
Puede ding bus. Take the Banawe
(Banawe Hotel for stop over) route, then Bontoc tapos malapit
na. You'll know you're on the right path
when the weather changes from sunny to cloudy.
3. Check your spare tire. Bring DIY repair kit and rugby.
Vulcanizing shops their does not repair tubeless
tires. You'll have to go to Bontoc 30mins. for you tire repair
needs.
4. Bring pambahay na clothes and pamalit. You will need these
when you enter the caves, lots of gapang,
akyat and very maputik.
5. Bring lots of films, camera w/ long lens and a handycam w/
lights. Waterproofed your cameras bags.
6. Get a guide before going sightseeing. May mga accredited
guides sa municipal hall. I think they go for
P500 to P600 a day. Haggle. You have to register your names
and where you are staying. This is for the
search party (joke lang).
7. Bring mini stove. P20 pesos ang painit ng tubig (which cools
up in 1 min.)or if you can take a bath in
2 mins OK na din wala. You can also use this stove to cook
ulam. P50 ang paluto kahit sardinas.
8. St. Joseph (where we bought our pack lunch) and Mapiyaow
(where we stayed) are two of the inns.
Mayroon din hotel (better if you have kids, oh I see hmmm...)
malapit sa municipal hall.
9. Taste their Sagada coffee. If you like it ask the guide if he
can buy coffee for you as it is not sold in stores.
10. Bring trunks, bathing suit and pack lunch when going to the
falls. You'll need the energy.
11. By no means do not be tempted to take the Baguio
homeward route (10hrs ++). The road is much more
bumpy with never ending zigzag, landslides and bald
mountainside. Trust me ma-bobored kayo.
12. I forgot pala, don't wear short shorts and no kissing in public medyo conservative mga tao doon.
Nahilo ba kayo? :Sorry, cut/paste ko lang kasi from my office email.
Ok sa details I will see. Hirap for me to plan this coz 1st week of Sept na. Also 4 days kasi but I will try my best to join u guys. May plano na actually ako with some friends to go there but Oct-Nov pa.

Tempting! Alfred, kailan deadline nito? Is there safe parking there? Sabi sa akin ng ibang kaibigan ko, malikot ang kamay ng mga bata doon at isang "motel" lang ang may secure parking (nasa loob ng gate)....?
sa mapiyaaw lodge nasa loob ng gate ang parking, a 10 min drive to the town proper. ano yun MTB?
pede din 3 days, baba ng sunday. if malaki ang group hati sa dalawa with one guide each.
