    yup, tell me about it... the van was purchased new in May 2002 and is only 20,000 km young. the GM technician and service manager said the culprit is "something with the wiring", though they couldn't really elaborate.

    Jimbob (and all),

    pare, the service dept. of GM shaw is in dire need of servicing; perhaps a short course in etiquette and public relations would do wonders (then again, maybe not)...

    i went to GM shaw before 8:00 in the morning of monday, dec. 22. there were three clients waiting at the service reception desk but there was no one manning the desk, or in the office for that matter. i went outside and chatted with a technician in the service bay, and he said something like, "pasensya na bossing, medyo tinanghali kasi yung service manager e". the line at the service desk was getting longer. 8:15 na yata dumating yung in-charge. doesn't the office open at 7:00? hmmm :mad:

    wala namang number na binigay sa mga clients, so nobody really knew who would be served first and served next. i told the lady at the desk that i came in fourth and pointed to her who was first, second, and third (there were about eight persons in the office at this time). the service manager comes in (si Lawrence) and mans the other terminal at the reception desk. number three was being served by the lady, but Mr. Lawrence entertains number Five instead of me, who was fourth. sige, okey lang, pagbigyan, mukhang natatae si number five e, nagmamadali. doesn't this dealer have a damn system for keeping track of who gets served first? whatever happened to First In, First Out? :mad:

    when it's finally my turn (it's about 8:55 or so already), i tell Lawrence that the van stalled in the bowels of the Podium the previous night and won't start, and that the van has been left overnight at the mall. i inform him that the engine doesn't crank, that i'm sure there's fuel in the tank, that i've inspected the vital fuses, that the van has been regularly serviced by them (and the records are in their database), that the transmission shift indicator on the gauge cluster and the fuel guage don't seem to be working, that the headlights are strong when turned on, that the radio memory is still functional, that the van stalled while moving, and that the battery has already been replaced with a new one about four months ago. he asks me if i have a vehicle with me. i say i do, so he tells me he'll send a technician with me and we'll go together to the mall. okay, good. that's what i came to the dealer for. i had planned to have him fix the vehicle on-the-spot and have him drive it back to GM shaw while i followed him in my own car.

    i tell the technician the problem and the details of the case, and he says, "battery lang yan ser". i tell him that the headlights are strong, and he says, "sige tingnan natin ser, baka battery" or something like that. he prepares a set of jumper cables and a bag of tools. okay sige, bahala ka, your the tech anyway.

    on the way, i chat with the mechanic. he says he worked as a technician for Chrysler Philippines previously, and that he's been with GM shaw for two years now. i ask him if Ventures have been problematic, and he says not really, bago pa kasi. when we arrive at the podium, he gets out of my car and grabs his jumper cables, and he tells me, "ser, lapit mo yung sasakyan niyo ser, i-si-series natin". what? e hindi mo pa nga tinitingnan yung sasakyan e (nasa akin pa nga yung susi nung venture). okey, sige, he must know what he's doing.

    so he connects the two batteries and starts the van, and.... nothing happens. he inspects the van for a while and tells me that it's the "wiring to the starter and PCM" or something like that. "PCM? is that the engine computer?" he says yes, and he tells me that it can't be repaired on the spot. great.

    bakit kasi hindi niya dinala yung GM engine code reader nila or some other electronic diagnostic thingamajig?? i've seen them use it in the service bay. fat lot of good his jumper cables did... anak ng tokwa, may jumper cables ako sa sasakyan ko, i would have jumped it myself the day before if i was certain it was the battery. anong akala ng tech na ito, magsusundo pa ako ng mekaniko para lang mag jump ng batterya? :swear:

    now the fun part...

    he tells me na "balik na tayo sa opisina para kausapin niyo si ser Lawrence". whoa whoa whoa, wait a minute, babalik tayo ng Shaw para lang kausapin siya? e bakit hindi muna natin tawagan sa telepono dito sa podium? fortunately, the General Manager of the Podium gave me access to her office if we needed anything, so we called GM shaw from the mall. the tech spoke to Lawrence for a while, then Lawrence asked to speak to me. our conversation went something like this:

    Lawrence: ser, hindi daw magawa yung sasakyan niyo diyan e.

    me: uh, mukha nga, ser.

    Lawrence: kailangan hilain palabas yung sasakyan. ipa-tow niyo nalang pabalik dito (sa GM shaw).

    (pause... i thought he wasn't done speaking)

    Lawrence: ano, okey na ser?

    me: ha?? teka teka, so ano na mangyayari ngayon? hihintay kami dito ng wrecker niyo?

    Lawrence: ay hindi ser. kayo na magpapahila niyan.

    me: ha?? wala ba kayong wrecker diyan sa inyo?

    Lawrence: wala ho ser e. bibigyan ko nalang kayo ng telephone number nung towing company na malapit diyan, tawagan niyo nalang. (he gives me two phone numbers) okey na ser?

    me: teka teka muna, kami magbabayad sa wrecker?

    Lawrence: (medyo naiinis yung tono, parang gusto nang tapusin yung conversation kasi may client pa siya sa office) yes ser.

    me: under warranty itong repair na ito diba? may 2002 binili yung sasakyan.

    Lawrence: yes ser, under warranty itong repair na ito sa sasakyan niyo.

    me: hindi ba kasama sa warranty yung paghila? bakit ako magbabayad para sa depekto ng sasakyang ginawa niyo??

    Lawrence: (parang naiinis na talaga yung tono) ser, hindi covered ng warranty yung towing. tawagan niyo nalang yung number na binigay ko sa inyo, sila na yung kausapin niyo. wala kaming wrecker dito, yan yung accredited towing company namin. malapit lang yan sa lugar niyo. ano, okey na ser?

    me: (asar na asar na rin ako sa bwiset na service manager na ito) o sige na nga, mukhang wala naman kayong matutulong dito e. sige, ako nang bahala dito. (he asks to speak to his mechanic, they talk for a short while, then the mechanic hands the phone back to me, gusto daw ako kausapin nung manager ulit)

    Lawrence: ser, pakibalik nung mekaniko ko dito.

    me: (ANOOOO???) pakibalik nung mekaniko mo diyan??
    Lawrence: yes ser, pakibalik siya dito sa opisina. (end conversation) :swear: (baba telepono)

    excuse me ser, anong akala mo sa akin, tanga? inuutusan mo akong i-limousine service yung mekaniko mo pabalik sa opisina mo tapos babalik akong podium para asikasuhin yung sasakyan kong hindi niyo naman naayos??? :swear: :swear: *******, maglakad yung mekaniko mo!!!!!!!! anong kala mo sa sasakyan ko, taxi para sa mekaniko mo???

    pagbalik namin dun sa sasakyan galing sa podium admin office, naghintay yung mekaniko ko sa tabi nung kotse ko, naghihintay buksan ko para makasakay siya. i firmly but politely tell him, "hindi na ako babalik sa Shaw. pakikuha nalang yung gamit mo diyan tapos balik ka na dun sa opisina niyo". he got the message; he got his stuff, said goodbye, and left.

    i called Otep for assistance and we get the van out at noontime. walang hiyang GM shaw ito, si Ungas at Otep nag-offer kaagad maghila nung sunday kung kelangan, samantalang yung servicing dealer wala man lang kahit anong tulong maibigay. napakabastos pa. i dunno, i mean, i understand if they don't have free towing or roadside assistance, but they could at least offer to arrange the towing themselves...? pano kung nanay ko o sister ko tong na-stranded sa daan? or if they couldn't, AT LEAST they could say it nicely. jeez.

    nung dec. 22, pagdala namin nung van dun sa GM shaw, sabi ni Lawrence sa akin subukan daw nilang matapos yung trabaho the next day, dec. 23. so tumawag ako nung dec. 23, hindi pa daw tapos, baka daw sa dec. 26. so tumawag ako nung dec. 26,... (drumroll please) and predictably, hindi pa rin daw tapos. hindi daw nila alam kung kailan matatapos. WOW!!!! (CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP :swear: :swear: ) i asked them what the problem with the van was, and they said, "wiring, tina-trace pa namin yung problema". jeeeez, hay nako, bahala na nga sila dun. ewan ko sa kanila. :swear: :swear: haaay, inconvenience to the max!!!

    sabi ng tatay ko dedemandahin na niya yung dealer, palitan nalang daw ng bago :bwahaha: sana bagong Patrol

    yan ang pinaka worse gawin ng isang dealer imho,
    not taking care of its customer will bring them down,

    mbt, naalala ko tuloy nasa podium din ako nung sunday 21st of december, kung pala ako ang tinawagan mo, right there and there nahila kita.

    mbt, if i may ask, have they tried to replace the battery already? Ganyan din yung rav4 namin na green. Malakas pa batt but ayaw magstart.

    pucha naman yan mbt...kung sakin nangyari yan...baka kung ano pa nasabi ko...

    pero wal tayong magagawa..may mga tao talagang napasok sa ganyang trabaho kahit wala namang kaalam alam sa pinaggagagawa nila....

    hindi uso dito sa pilipinas ang customer service...
