it depends on what you're seeking.

there are those old school style OTJ and there are new low rider style OTJs.

it can go as low as 20-30k and as high as a second hand 90's car, 100k beyond.

you can even have them custom built by your favorite talyer. or those from cavite that are ready built.

afaik, all OTJ use surplus/second hand/used engines so be careful on your hunting. they may look good, but wont run good.

Toyota 3K engine was the most practical engine known way back, according to my late grand father.

now, i dont have an idea, we did lost our last OTJ a year ago.

    goodluck sa hunting niyo sir.

We used to have this, have it changed 3 times the engine. It was a Willy's jeep, first engine was Isuzu C221, have it changed to a Toyota 4K, then lastly to an Isuzu C240.

I'm not so familiar nowadays, but way back the more popular engine for owner type jeeps are Toyota 4k or 5R, better look out for a Toyota engine powered jeep, easier on the parts.

Get a boxtype or a pride instead. Kahit na ex-taxi pa yan, it's still better than a jeep.

Bakit owner type (awner?) jeep pa kukunin mo?

All the occupants were lucky to just be hospitalized, while the jeep was a total wreck.

They're right. Better that you start with a second hand car na lang.

    CONS:
    1. jeeps are prone to kalampag after a few years. pangit naman parepair and weld kasi stainless.
    2. a brand new jeep costs just about the same or even more than a good 2nd hand.
    3. standard leaf springs suspensions, alignment adjustment problems.
    4. inaccurate fuel gauge readings.
    5. non-aircon, hirap pag tag-ulan attaching plastics side covers.
    6. unstable at high speeds and not engineered for safety in case of accidents.

We had jeep as the first vehicle and the woes were endless.

    3. depende sa assembler,,, my dad has 1 gawang rizal and no issues sa suspension and allignment
    4. accurate din ang fuel gauge and other instrumentation.
    5. hindi lahat ng owner non aircon...
    6. hindi lahat unstable at high speeds... my dad can run 120 sa nlex kaya pang ibirit walang tunog and issues...

eto ay dahil sya ang unang owner...

un sakin ang laki din inubos bago mapatino ang takbo... 55k nakuha so far malakilaki na naubos... but all worth it... trully pinoy

My brother have one before, binenta na lang ng mura para maalis sakit ng ulo. Bakit masakit sa ulo? Just consider these:

    1. Mahirap pag umuulan.
Dapat may bantay kaya sobrang hassle.

Some people would still prefer to get a brand-new vehicle, no matter how old is its concept or how poor is its trim - an example is the Fiat Uno still offered brand-new in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela and other South-American countries.

As far as 2nd-hand goes, I would prefer to get a Mitsubishi L300 with aircon than an owner-type jeepney.

As far as owner-type jeep goes, I would only want one if it was a Wrangler

ako sa 2nd hand car na lng, may 120k ka may mga toyota ka na mabibili, yung big body. kapitahay namin dati magpapagawa otj yung singil sa kanya 140k, then inoffer ko mazda 323 namin, 130k lang, una ayaw nya kasi sabi eh 95 model pa yung mazda namin. pero sang beses nakita ko sya sa kalsada nagbabantay ng jeep, yun pinasakay ko, and napansin nya na alaga yung mazda, and lahat sa loob gumagana pa, from speedo and tachometers hanggang sa fuel gauge, and ok yung sounds kasi naka 2 jbl subs sa likod saka 2 power amps, hehe. ayun binili nya after a week. ngayon kagi nya binibida sa mga barkadang naka otj. kasi nga naman naka aircon ka wala ka hassle sa init at ulan, sa parking pede mo rin iwan, unlike sa otj na babantayan mo dapat. pero kanya kanya rin na taste yan mga tol, if ano ang gusto yung ang sundin at saka ang pasok sa budget
