went to Ford Pampanga yesterday (after dropping by at kimpoy's shop) and looked at the new ford expedition. sabi nung sales rep dun tataas daw ng 50% yung tax for suv's by next year. totoo ba ito? yung price ng new expedition na 1.945M magiging more than 2.2M daw.

well, magiging value-based na yung tax supposedly... not on engine displacement na and mawawala na yung 10-seater AUV exemption... so baka nga tumaas yung price ng premium SUVs (although maibabalik na rin ata yung 4x4 models at no extra tax) that are riding on the 10-seater exemption now

although, sure na bababa yung presyo ng LC100 at prado, at rav4! :D yahoo!

    pajerokid,

my fearless predictions: (hula hula lang ito ha! on the basis that premium SUVs riding on the 10-seater exemption will become more expensive when the exemption is removed)

patrol: 4x2 model will be dropped, prices will increase considerably
    expedition: prices will increase considerably
    trooper: prices will increase considerably
pajero: 4x2 model will be dropped, prices will increase considerably

chevy venture: prices will increase slightly
kia sedona: prices will increase slightly

    rav4: prices will drop drastically
grand vitara: prices will drop drastically
cr-v: 10-seater model will be dropped, prices will increase slightly, 4WD model available
escape 4WD: prices will drop drastically

revo, crosswind, adventure: prices will increase slightly
pickups: no change? baka drop slightly...

altis 1.8G: prices will drop considerably
altis 1.6, civic, lynx, sentra, lancer...: prices will drop slightly
city: um... prices will increase slightly?
accord, camry, cefiro...: prices will drop slightly
BMWs, benzes,...: 6-cylinder model (2.5L and above) prices will drop considerably

    :? :?:

mbt::: hmmmmm..... i agree with some but not all. For example.....

to keep prices down, i think toyota will respond by introducing a FWD RAV4. Honda will retain the current CRV but will Introduce a Higher end model with RT4WD. I agree with your predictions on the Patrol and Pajero. I think the trooper will have a 4WD big brother. Exped? not sure.

Pwede pala tayong manghuhula hehehe

feeling ko lang 4x2s will be dropped. The only reason they were released was to avoid the excise tax on 4x4s. feeling ko lang :D

Does anyone have a link or can explain this new tax scheme?

We're planning to buy a new car early next year so i'm kinda curious on how it will affect the price (we're looking at the Corolla 1.8 or the Hiace Super Grandia).

i heard the scheme will be based on PRICE something like:

    3,000,000 and up - 100% tax
    600,001 to 900,000 - 3% tax
    600,000 and below - 2.5% tax
