Ano po ba ang difference ng dalawa and which one is better?

I am intersted in installing one kasi sa 4x2 pick-up ko, para naman paminsan minsan ay makapaglaro din ako off the road (kahit slight lang). Will there be an improvement sa 4x2's

I've asked sir freeman about the prize of both and super mahal pala nito. Is there any other alternative...surplus maybe?

My ride nga pala is a 4x2 L200

LSD = Limited Slip Differential, which allows your tire to slip first before automatically activating the lock that limits tire traction slippage from your left and right tires. It is a lot cheaper than diff lockers, the downside is, you don't know when it is going to help you 'coz it only limits wheel spin in a limited amount of time.

Diff Lockers = Differential Lockers, which can be locked manually if the driver senses some tire traction is bound to happen. An on/off switch which the driver dictates when he wants his diffs in a locked position. Downside, it can break axles if you don't use it properly.

Never settle for surplus ones, yes you could get it a lot cheaper from LSD units but your rear differential is at stake. Unless you want something installed in there that does not work when you need it most.

    Ungas,
Ano ba ang proper use nito? Ang pagkakaintindi ko kasi, kapag na stuck na ung isa sa mga rear wheels ko, pwede ko na i-engage ang lockers para same direction and more traction. Anyway...explain mo sa akin sa fun run

    Freeman,
Thanks for the link. Sir, i'll tell you kung kakayanin ng bulsa ko ang air lockers. If ever kaya ko bumili, i'll definitely get it from you.

...sana matupad ang pangarap ko...wala kasi ako pambili ng 4x4 eh
    Thanks for the link.

A 2wd even if equipped with traction aids and even a winch will not make for an enjoyable offoad trip. You will probably spend most of the time recovering your vehicle. Especially if you go to the trail sites of Rizal and Pinatubo.

would it be possible to trade in your 4x2 pickup for a Samurai or Feroza?

    Freeman,
Thanks for the suggestion. I guess its not a good idea after all. Shet, addicted na yata kasi ako sa offroading simula nung nasubukan ko yung fuego ng friend ko.

Anyway, ayaw talaga ipabenta ng dad ko ang pick-up because of practical reasons. Di bale, kapag pinagsawaan niya na yung trooper, baka pwede ko na mahiram once in a while.

Sir, kapag nagkapera na ako, itutuloy ko yung body lift na matagal ko na pangarap. Do you do that? If not, suspension lift nalang. Thanks and regards

    djerms,

pwede naman lagyan ng locker yung pickup mo sa rear axle... it would vastly increase your vehicle's capability in mud, for example. some toyota tacomas in the US are factory-equipped with a RWD/rear locker combo

yun nga lang, even with a rear locker, you'd need larger tires and a lift... mababa yung stock RWD L200

    DJERMS,

Sell your pickup and get a 4X4. That's the cheapest, most cost effective, foolproof and not to mention easiest way of achieving what you want.

ang selling ng L200 ngayon nasa 200-250k nalang po. I would really want to get a 2nd hand 4x4 as most of you suggest. However, nakakaguilty naman sa dad ko coz he sold me this truck for a cheap prize and he still needs it para sa ikauunlad ng andoys roasters..hehe. Maybe 2-3 years from now, pwede ko na ibenta.

    Otep,
Parang ang baba naman...350k lang for a 4x4 strada? Baka eto yung bare lang na L200 na 4x4. The hard part on this is mahirap na maghanap ng matinong model na ganito.

    MBT,
medyo lifted naman ang pick-up ko compared to the stock L200.

    PK,
    swap tayo sasakyan..hehe

    Bubbles,
How much ang estimate cost ng conversion? If this will go below 100k, I'll probably check on it.

it may cost you less than 100k. you buy surplus chassis ng L200 4wd or pajero. then exchange the engine and transmission and the whole front suspension in the case of pajero chassis, naka super select ka pa turbo intercooler. baka 4m4o pa ang ma bili mo. in the case sa l200 4wd chassis, lift up mo orig body mo and transfer sa 4wd chassis. sell youor old engine and chassis componets. it has been done here with mazda, mitsu pick-up here in our place.

    ARB,
Thanks for the info. By the way, is it possible if I just retain my old engine? I dont wanna change my engine na kasi eh.

If ever, transmission and 4wd chassis lang ang kailangan ko ipa-install right?

you can, but with benefit of the turbo why hold on to your engine. with this conversion you will be using the front IFS config of the donor chassis. parang orig na mitsu din ang pick-up mo.

kimpoy-pwede siguro coils but it will take a lot more work.

Solid axle swaps have not really gotten off the ground for Mitsubishis since the market is small. Sa US, meron Montero GEN I na naka Dana 44 sa harap tapos leaf spring suspension na. Lots of custom stuff yun.

Yung coils mahirap din kasi the halfshafts need a way to pass through. Coilovers are possible per hindi cost effective and there is very little gained in terms of wheeltravel.

Then there is the super expensive Ironman lift kit.

Difflocks should only be used when there is sufficient slippage between the left and right side of the axles. In short, when you are in very deep $hit.

Works great for soft lahar, too.

Without a difflock, power will just follow the path of least resistance. Which is always the tire with the least traction. Difflocks eliminate this phenomena by locking the left and right sides together making them rotate at equal speeds irregardless of the traction situation of either one.
