Mga peeps, word of caution...yun pong site going to Mudsprings ay hindi kasing challenging ng JUNGLE BASE....madulas lang ang daan dahil sa lumot and hamog....its more of an uphill rough road thing...30 degree climb in some sections. Some challenging sections for 4x2 but definitely chicken feed for 4x4s.
There should be enough rooms for a lot vechicles kasi the area use to be a real road going up to the mountain (Maquiling) with some clearing (nuon).
Unfortunately, I haven't reached or seen the area since '91 or even earlier than '91 so who knows what it look like right now (If the trees in the area grew na then it definitely look different na).
If my schedule fit right sama ako sa Feb 9. So I would vote for Feb 9.
I'd say this trip would be more of a nature EB thing than an off-roading EB.
The Magnetic Hill road (Road via PCARRD) would be a good alternative road para iwas traffic sa kanto ng College. But mahirap tumigil duon and see the "phenomenon" sa magnetic hill kung maraming sasakyan...magpapatraffic tayo duon.

The Pajero Gen I has tremendous pulling power, able to yank out any stuck or troubled vehicle.
Did you say that there is such a thing as Magnetic Hill road? Ha! I've got to try that part and let it pull my "UnderDawg". :D
feb. 8 or 9 pwede ako.
jay crew::: sa magnetic hill tayo dadaan. Tama si wildthing para iwas traffic. Let's find out kung magnetic or optical illusion yang magnetic hill na yan. :D
sir na try ko na yantotoo yun maaaliw tayo sana konti lang dumadaan, kahit kotse patayin mo engine aakyat padin, pero di masyadong stiff yung incline konti lang pero nakakaaliw parin.
go na pla e!!! yehey!! sayang wala na si sir happiman... sana iniwan na lang niya paje niya satin. yup, sir wildthing is right, hardcore off-roaders will not like the trails.... ito na talaga yung walk in the PARK... sama po ako diyan!!! yup via magnetic hill will be fun... so... who's coming??? feb. 9 it is!!! :D
guys sama na kayo yung mga hindi naka 4x4 pede daw sumama,ok ata mga scenery dito
A picnic is not a bad idea....maganda sana kung makakapagrecon sina sir otomatic and boy2....kung me place for a picnic....
Sceneries ba 'kamo...unless you're really a nature lover or works with Haribon Foundation....trees and lots of trees lang talaga ang sceneries dun...may mga kaaibang birds din minsan...siguro meron din snakes....who knows....it is still a dense forest.
Recollection ko sa mudspring....some weird boiling mud (urban legend has it that it is the crater mouth of Mt. Maquiling - bulkan daw kasi ito na inactive) where you could probably cook an egg or even a pig if you drop it there....sulfur vapor ang amoy (quite pungent at times). It used to be about 5-10meters in diameter...baka mas malaki na ngayon.
Climbing Peak 2 (the highest peak of Maquiling) is not going to be an option kasi its about an hour or 2 na hike going up depende sa bilis ng lakad from mudspring area. There use to be a portion na 90degree climb somewhere 2/3rds way up...you have to grab the roots of the tree to go up and its about a story high (10-15 ft)...unless nag landslide na dun, baka iba na. Scenery up there would only be good at night (due to light effects of the town below)...we had an overnight expedition dun when I was a freshman in college (long ago....19yrs back).
Other scenes in LB would be the National Arts Theather....para sa mga high school scholars in the music and arts (parang philippine science hs pero pang arts and music). Very nice view from up there. Going up that area, there is also a nice cliff-side na chapel....very scenic location for a wedding venue (para sa mga single na romantic :lol.
Magnetic hill .... is a good illusion.
may snakes nga dun! may na kita po kami dun the last time we went there.
cige picnik tayo,o guys ano dadalhin nyong food post nyo na,ako lasagna
sayang di ako makakasama!
