Hood Deflectors

Hi everyone,

Ano ang comments ninyo sa mga hood/bug deflectors ? I was thinking of getting one sana.... Do they really help in reducing small rock impact damage sa hood or pang porma lang siya ? Are they worth it ?

Are SUVs less prone to this problem due to their higher hoods than cars ? So hindi na kailangan ? Napansin ko lang kasi na most cars dont have it and mas common sya sa SUVs.... Bakit kaya ???

We had them on a Pajero (EGR brand) before, it does help protect somewhat from stone chips and bugs if you travel on the highways a lot... Its not fullproof though.

I wished i had one when my hood went head on with a rock a couple of months back. Pero IMO, it spoils the overall look of the car. Besides, putting it onto your hood assumes that the rock will hit it exactly where it is. But what if the rock decides not to and flies above it, so bale wala rin :D

Hmmm... I was wondering nga kung effective talaga yang mga yan... pero if you look at it and imagine that you are a rock on the road... kapag iview mo yung hood nang approaching suv from a worms eye view, the hood deflector should pretty much cover about 90% of the hood and probably the lower part of the windshield as well.

Furthermore, when your vehicle is in motion, the airflow on top of the hood is reshaped by the deflector thus "pushing" the small rocks upwards and away from the hood and windshield... (kailangan ko nang wind tunnel and fluid dynamics simulation software to test this).

Well, my hood has rock marks on the middle and top parts.

Kakaalis lang namin nung hood deflector ng Expedition. Medyo baduy kasi. And in time, puro scratches na din. At least yung hood pwede light sanding or rubbing. Yung acrylic, ewan ko kung marerestore pa.

diba designed lang yun for bugs, not for stones or rocks. sometimes its called bug shield.

Im not so sure. Alam ko for rocks din eh. Sure akong for bugs yung auto bra.

balak ko din nga magpakabit ng hood deflector/bug shield. pag gabi kasi sa expressway or macarthur hiway ang daming niknik (bugs).

Kailangan lagi nang pabagsak ang sara ng hood mo kapag may deflector. Ok lang talaga namang pabagsak ako magsara ng hood.

Pero nakakatakot ibagsak kasi parang mababasag yung deflector. hehehe.

sa patrol ko dapat talaga pabagsak ang pagsara ng hood dahil sa hydrolic sya.

ok lang kung once in a while lang, pero sa dami ng bugs sa probinsya, magsasawa ka sa kaka-apply ng bug & tar remover. :mad:

i agree with boybi
long distance din travel ko pag punta manila. it helps with bugs.
nagdecide din ako maglagay kasi yung tonka pajero namin with 120th kms mileage may maliliit na tama parang na chip yung paint. ngayon yung blister namin wala pang tama sa hood.

yun pala purpose non... dami ko kasi nakikita na ganyan, kala ko rin pang japorms lang. :D
kung acrylic plastic yun, baka makuha ng rubbing compound or wet sanding ng fine-grit sand paper.
ako rin tinatamaan ng bato sa hood when I drive on the hway. nagkadimple tuloy hood ko.

maiba ako... (OT), e sa headlight, ano magandang protection against small stones? glass kasi ang OEM headlight housing ng xwind. minsan tinamaan ng maliit na bato, ayun, nagkaron ng butas.
buti pa yung plastic, mas mura at may tendency mag-bounce off lang ang bato.

IMO, mas matibay ang glass kesa plastic. tempered and heat resistant glass naman ang ginagamit sa headlamps. yung tumamang bato sayo, kung sa plastic headlamps tumama yun malamang butas din. and yung plastic headlamps, may tendency pang mag blur pag tagal. ang pangit tingnan. tapos sa glass, pwede ka pang magkabit ng high wattage lights without worrying kung kaya yung init.

kung hindi ricey para sayo, kabitan mo nalang ng headlamp covers. hanap ka nalang kung meron yung clear lang para hindi gaano pansin.

If you are interested, I have ab extra bug deflector for a 2000 up model paj. Tinanggal namin coz hindi type ng dad ko. But I think that the screws are missing na, Try mo nalang humanap. I'll sell it to you at a cheap price.
