Mga experts.. tulong naman... paano malaman if may problema na timing belt mo.. any sound or any changes sa takbo ng car.... Saan ba pwede ma check visually withoug going to a mechanic. May strange sound din ba pag sira na yung timing belt or kailangan na palitan..? Ano po bang parts ang nasisira if me tama na ang timing belt... immediately po bang nasisira ang parts pag wala na ang timing belt..
My ride Pajero Intercooler Turbo with 4d56 engine.. 78K na ang reading
thanks,

April 23rd, 2003 11:31 AM #2The only way to check your timing belt is open the timing belt cover but I think you have to remove the valve cover din to get to it.
Wala naman sound usually, basta nalang mapuputol, kaya nakakatakot, so usually you change it sa recommended interval to be safe

marwen::: Pag timing belt mo ang naputol, hindi na aandar ang engine. Tutukod lahat ng valves sa piston, mabubutas at mawawalan ng compression. Timing belt breakage will not produce any sound except for that 1 hard engine knock and thats it. Palit ka ng buong cylinder head, valve seats, cam, pistons, piston rings, connecting rods, sleeves, much worse kung damage pati engine block.
Dati meron kami ditong Timing Belt tensi-check, but fortunately it got sold to one of our customers.

All you have to do is remove the timing belt cover to inspect the belt as Hybrid mentioned. If the belt surface is shiny and hindi mo alam yung last time na pinalitan, then you could have it replaced. Medyo mahirap palitan yan coz maraming tatanggalin.

Naku nakakatakot pala pag timing belt..... punta na lang ako sa mekaniko bukas.. last question..... how much does a timing belt cost..... comparison ng original from mitsu casa at yung mga other brands lang na okey din performance....and pa suggest na rin ng magandang brand reliable at hindi masyado expensive.....

Original 4D56 timing belt 1200 for belt A, 900 for belt B. Dalawa po yan. Make sure you replace both as well as the tensioner bearings. Original yun, but dont be surprised if its made in Korea.

Timing Belt Kit for 4D56 is VKMA 95010. Which would cost you around 4K-5K on auto supplies. The kit includes 2 tensioner units and 2 timing belts. Better have the price and parts compared before making a purchase.

Pajerokid: pardon me for my ignorance.. he.he. ano po gamit bakit dalawa ang timing belt may A and B... for fault tolerance po ba ito... and ganun din po ba ang tensioner dalawa for redundancy....
salamat

no prob ser!
Actually, isa lang talaga timing belt ng 4d56. Eto yung "belt A" kung tawagin. The other belt turns either the balance shaft ata. I dont have my manual with me right now, but i'll get back to you once i do. Hindi for redundancy yung second belt.
