I'm thinking of getting a diesel SUV. My budget is 1.2M and I'm after reliability (since gagamitin ko going to Bicol) and fuel economy. I can't wait for a fortuner so that's off the list. Can you make some suggestions?

long trips, go for the bigger wheel base suv para less tagtag...unfortunately wala yatang low fuel consumption - try mo 4x2 alterra matipid kumain ng fuel.

Yup, kailangan daw brand new kasi yung bank ang magbabayad since this will be under a car loan.

1st choice would be the Sorento... problem is that for your budget yung base model (EX) lang ang pwede.

2nd choice would be the Everest - medyo swak sa budget...

Everest 4x4 at that budget range for brand new (if the design fits your taste). I recently drove ours for 10 hours (Manila-Zambales-Pangasinan-Baguio) and it was quite good in the power delivery department. Not bad for no-frills vehicle (pre-combusiton chambered diesel engine).

Was talking with some guys on a Everest that was left submerged for three days in Rizal; when it was recovered they just cleaned the interior, changed the light bulbs, put fresh fuel and a new battery; started it and drove it away. The peeps from C! and TG also have quite good regard for this vehicle.

How about a 4x4 pick-up (DMax, Hilux)?

Ford Everest 4x2 AT - Php 1,095,000

Ford has a promo until Dec 25 which entitles Everest buyers with free upgrades to leather seats and I think two years of Ford Solutions (Insurance and maintenance). Almost Php 100,000 worth daw.

kung sa pa pogian lang ng SUV fortuner na ako!!! pero medyo mataas nga lang sa buget. bilis din naman sya eh. boss na boss and dating!!! toyota pa hindi naman tatagal yan kung pangit yung quality. malamang pag madami na ng may fortuner dyan mumura na rin yung parts nya!!!! maganda rin yung everest. i test drive a everest diesel engine. medyo hindi ko na gustohan yung sound ng makina diesel kasi eh, para ka nag drive ng L300 van. but ganda naman yung loob bigger space than the fortuner. for wat i know toyota shaw has a available unit now. try to call them. hindi ka magsisisi kung fortuner ang bibilhin mo. matass pa ang market value nya. ako nga i bought a Fortuner 4x2 gas for 1.4 M bnew sa grey market kahit na alam ko ng price nya is est. 1.350 ( insurance, 3years LTO reg, ) for me kasi this will satisfy my nids. its is!!!

Talaga bang problematic ang d4d ng toyota particularly the fortuner? My uncle has one pero wala naman sha reklamo pa. 1 week palang naman sa kanya. What seems to be the prob?
